Date dots (self.starbucksbaristas)

Okay can someone help me confirm how we date coffee beans and non-dairy. I say when you open it that is day one of the 7 days. But others are counting day one as the next day. So if I open a box of milk on Monday I give it till the end of the day on Sunday. But coworkers opening the same thing are giving it till end of day the following Monday. When I was taught 5 years ago everyone did it my way. So am I wrong? Did something change and I did not get the memo?

Sbuxdates is what caused this debate. If you look at the first page it says 7 days but the date they give you is day 8. I finally said it's not an official starbucks page. The number of days is correct but the date is wrong.

Yeah, the day you open it is day one. It's the only way that makes sense: a day is at most a 24-hour period. If I open a bag of beans at 6am on Monday and then it's open until 9pm or whenever the following Monday, that's more than seven 24-hour days.

You should actually be going by hours, not days. So if something is 1 day it’s actually 24 hours. Coffee, once opened and ground is good for 24 hours or 1 day. “1 day” would equal “this time tomorrow.” But most stores just put “EOD” or “end of day” because it just makes more practical sense to toss everything after close and start everything new the next morning.

Thanks that's what I was saying. I have been here for a long time and get irritated when people challenge me on things like that. When I am wrong I admit it. But the only times I have been are when there's been a change I was not aware happened. Like when I started cold brew only got 5 days now its 7.

You can do what everyone at my store does and not date anything. So as an opener who is not a morning person, I have to go through and date everything for them😬😒 I tell my manager and she says everything is always dated when she get there. Yes... because I do it..ugh
