Trent’s sized rant x10 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by T0tallywavy
I was promoted to a shift in October the day before my SM got fired , and still haven’t received any actually training . So today I come in and one of our weekday openers got fired (3 weeks ago) — they never found coverage . Then one of the only 4 shifts is also on isolation , one can only close and the other is off for 8 days . So I thought I was only down two partners BUT WAIT THIS NO CALL NO SHOW IS ALSO ON ISOLATION AND THEY KNEW and didn’t tell me or try to do anything about it . So here I am at 645 frantically texting my ASM as there is only gonna be 4 of us for the entire morning shift . Didn’t get mobiles off or lobby closed until 715 , and no one has gotten a break yet . I don’t have the faith to transfer without failing at another store because I don’t have training~ ya girl doesn’t know how to even file an incident report . But if I stay here I’m going to turn into a very miserable person . I worked towards his position for 3 years and I feel like I’ve wasted all of that time.

Am I wrong to be furious that they left me with so little coverage and didn’t care to communicate any of it ??

Edit: Worth noting that the first time I insisted I needed proper support , I was forced to step down and had to call ethics and compliance .

You're not wrong to feel upset by this situation at all.

You mention an ASM but not an SM. Do you have a SM at another store you feel more comfortable approaching? I would be very vocal about how you're doing your best but you were never trained appropriately and you want that training.

Starbucks training is the worst I’ve seen in any job I’ve held. The amount of SSVs that had maybe one day of training before they were told to figure it out on their own is utterly ridiculous. I frankly don’t know how the hell they’ve gotten away with it for so long.

No literally, I got a single shift of training before they assumed I was ready because “I already do everything as a barista!” Knew absolutely nothing when it came time to supervise alone and had to call my manager about every step of the deposit for closing 😐

It’s not wrong to feel that way. At this point it’s a larger issue that needs to be taken to the dm and demand to be taken out of the store. If that doesn’t get anywhere contact your rd with all of this information. It’s not acceptable to be left out to dry like this. I’m sorry about your experience so far as a ssv. That’s not right

I haven’t been trained on how to file an incident report either hahahaha how do we do that???

okay the incident report form looks like an app on the ipad, i believe it’s called IRF (incident reporting form). just open that app and it will walk you through it. take a note of the number it gives you once you submit in case you need to reference it

Well what are you going to do about it, lol? Take the initiative to sit your asm down and demand support and go over SSV30. Should you have to; no. However, if you want to change that it’s on your part.

As if I haven’t been having meeting after meeting since November? I have two ASMs that I’ve been asking for help constantly and I’ve been told I just need to work on my problem solving skills without asking.
Pretty crass of you to assume I’ve not made an effort on my own

Not to mention when I did “demand” support they instead suggested I just step down .
