Other partners: two were let go for getting into a fist fight over a third barista... one was let go for making some really violent threats to a customer through Facebook... another was let go because they got arrested and never showed up again. Oh, and I lost a manager for tons and tons of reasons but we also found a wine bottle in a ceiling tile above the boh desk lmao

*I* was fired for complaining about the state of my store and the unprofessional behaviour from my SM. Someone recognised me by the story I told in a Reddit thread, then used Discord to pull some old rants I made, and reported them all to the SM. It was an act of retaliation as she hated me from the moment I transferred, but couldn't get an actual reason to fire me until that report.

The story that got me in trouble? Ranting about how a girl ate strawberry inclusions out of the bag on the floor in front of a QASA inspector, giving us a critical mark, and all she got was a light scolding. Meanwhile I tell a customer I can't sell them something, and I get threatened with termination. Hmmm.
victorious_gem 7 points 1y ago
I'm so sorry you got fired like that, thats wild smh

Storm you did what, I am proud of you.

I got a write-up last month for telling a customer that the Dragon drink was made with coconut milk, not lemonade. Apparently I should have just remade the drink without saying anything and let the ASM deal with the customer 😒

one fired for calling another partner a f slur, another for trying to fuck their s.o. who was a partner in the BOH on CAMERA, another for clocking in then just going home bc they weren’t on the dcr so no one noticed and they got paid for it
Necessary_Low939 5 points 1y ago
Wow this is extreme
photo_rain [OP] 5 points 1y ago
Woah like they actually got paid?!! How did no one catch the hours being wrong!!
overturned23 21 points 1y ago
I wasn’t fired, but I was written up for saying “screw the tea tongs”
photo_rain [OP] 3 points 1y ago
What why?!!!
overturned23 7 points 1y ago
I was making a regular their Venti Jade citrus mint with 2 agave and I was using my hands instead of the tea tongs (still not touching the bag though) and my SSV came over and said something which then I replied by saying “screw the tea tongs” and she told my manager and I was written up for “blatant disrespect and incompetence”
mini_unknown_error 5 points 1y ago
Y'all have TEA TONGS AT YOUR STORE we just use our hands and touch the bags as little as possible
overturned23 3 points 1y ago
yes… it’s a waste of time trying to open them and get the attached the the paper thing so I just use my hands and try not to touch it. also the tongs often rips the tea bags.

I worked with the guy who posted Edwards Frappuccino order, he was fired and I’m still upset about it

I had a former coworker at a Tarbucks get fired for being transgender and showing public affection to their partner
victorious_gem 5 points 1y ago
excuse me?!
Radioaactive 4 points 1y ago
That sounds illegal?
AUserNameThatsTaken1 3 points 1y ago
It is
Overall-Diver-6845 -3 points 1y ago
How is that illegal lol
ArialynnSilver 2 points 1y ago
The official reason I believe was the public affection which was never a reason for non alphabet mafia members to lose their job
ArialynnSilver 0 points 1y ago
Ohh! And same Tarbucks wrote me up for not coming in on a non scheduled day they had literally put me on the schedule the night before after calling to see if I could work and me saying no
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
I've been suspened from my college for just exactly doing that I had no idea my partner also supports lgbtq because his in it.
booboobradley 9 points 1y ago
Had an 18 year old partner be flirted with by SM’s 36 year old husband. SM told and fired the partner
mini_unknown_error 6 points 1y ago

Acrobatic_Edge1996 2 points 1y ago
He’s doing better
PixelBlood02 1 points 1y ago
That’s horrible!! Did you ever try to appeal it?
Acrobatic_Edge1996 1 points 1y ago
Honestly didn’t know i could

Seen one barista get fired for what was mild time and attendance issues on paper, but in practice just sucked at the job. I don’t know if it was inability or laziness, it was a really weird thing. But they would take over 3x the time to do something any given task should take, and they’d been there over a year.

I don’t know if “fired” is the right word but seen at least two baristas we didn’t hear from for months or ever again. So they were removed from the system at one point.

Everywhere I’ve worked it’s either been extremely hard to fire someone or the managers have been very unwilling. I know many more stories of “should have been fired”.

Never met but they tried to fire an old partner from my current location why? Cause a lady threw a drink at him so he reacted and tried to block it. I guess some of it splashed back on the customers and they tried to fire him over it
photo_rain [OP] 2 points 1y ago
Can he not appeal that?!!!
awesomechief989 1 points 1y ago
They only tired to. Never worked. But the fact that they tried to 🤦‍♂️ besides he either quit or fired for something later on. I think they had a bad manager at the time
Baristathrowaway2372 5 points 1y ago
I got fired because I never went back. 😅
demigirlhailee 2 points 1y ago
actually same. left on a workers comp claim, was supposed to check in with my SM after a week, but ended up enlisting in the army instead (MUCH worse decision), and never went back or told the SM lol
Alive-Particular2286 5 points 1y ago
I was fired for being 1 minute late to clock in. My boss knew my other job was 40 minutes away and my boyfriend had just been in a really bad car crash so I was driving him to work. Never was more than 1 minute late to clock in, I always made sure to be there 5 minutes before but parking and actually getting into the store wasn’t easy with the location. But he was really strict on me about it. I think he just really didn’t like me, he also blacklisted me after. Which sucks but oh well
Mission-Accident-917 5 points 1y ago
This was before i started at my location so these are stories however the store manager told me so they can’t be that far off from the truth… an older shift lead got a phone call they told her our location was under investigation gave things like our district and regional managers name and even knew her partner number which was even more weird as how did they know she would answer… anyways know how there’s all those signs by phone and money stating it’s a scam and no one will ask you to take money out of the safe via the phone? she didn’t listen they told her to take all of the money out of the safe then to go to a specific walmart all while switching phones to her cell she was told to not tell anyone and stay quiet when other partners saw how much money she had in her hands they sent a partner (who still works here ) with her that second partner said she never heard anyone talk about anything in the car ride there or back… the 1st partner had taken the safe money gone to walmart bought visa gift cards with ALL OF THE MONEY then emailed the scammers who had a starbucks looking email the numbers expiration dates and pins… starbucks never saw that money again the woman was fired the second partner didn’t know what was happening but reported what she did know and wasn’t fired… that’s why new stores aren’t allowed to open without those stickers anymore

my old barista trainer got fired for “threatening another partner by saying they were going to run them over with their car”. everyone was pretty sure they made it up though just because they didn’t like them. this was years ago when i was a teenager but looking back it makes me pretty mad.
another partner was fired for calling a coworker fat. also looking back, the partner that was fired is most likely autistic and had trouble with social skills. really liked them and they were very good at their job. luckily it seems they got hired back regardless of that situation at another store
greenapro 4 points 1y ago
I got fired for “explicit language” in a Snapchat post I made about a partner that had quit not long before.
Few_Conclusion_8824 3 points 1y ago
I was forced to quit because a week after I told my manager I would be transferring I got a corrective action for wrinkled pants:)

Another barista from my store was fired higher up in the chain because a nasty customer wanted to keep the drink she said was wrong and wanted a size up for free and that partner was called a bitch and said over the headset “hey can I get a shift this customer just called me a bitch” that customer took a video after that and complained profusely about it and that from what I’ve heard amazing barista was fired

One barista at my old store literally took a bite out of a customers bagel in front of the customer and manager and handed it out to them anyways. The same day he texted our manager saying he was quitting immediately and blocked his number before asking for his job back the next day and getting denied
Internal-Ad-8820 2 points 1y ago
I was almost fired ('final write-up') but quit before they were able to nail me. It's a complicated story, but essentially I had been having issues with my SM since she came to the store in December 2020, there was always an odd sort of push-and-pull between the two of us and I never felt like I was doing anything right and she was always a very gaslighting and emotionally manipulative person. One day during last October I made the decision to close the cafe because my baristas were being overwhelmed and I tried to text my SM since that's literally all I had time to do while my two baristas were struggling there was no time to make a call, but she never responded and I really did not have time to try and contact anyone else because we had lines in both cafe and DT. I made the decision to close the cafe without permission and that was that. Fast forward about a month and my manager tells a barista that she can cut a customer's panini after I told her she couldn't, and then takes me into the back to try and tell me why I was wrong which I didn't let her do (at least in my area/county, we're not allowed to directly handle food like that), I stated my case and it dragged out into this long argument where she eventually said "Well ---, I guess we're just not going to get along." She continued to get more agitated like a caged lion as the discussion went on at which point I walked away. After that, I put a complaint in about her because she made a comment "Go and complain to [my DM], because I know you're going to anyway", so I complained about that and about safety and sanitation issues at my store to HR and Ethics. Somehow though by the end of the long, drawn out investigation process (over a month which is sus in itself), it turned into me being written up because of me closing the cafe down that one day in October which NO ONE, not my SM, not my DM, not anyone, mentioned since it happened. I knew from then that instead of being on my side and investigating where she needed to, my DM had been actually investigating 'me', based on comments I had heard about the questions she was asking other baristas, and a particular one from a barista who had made a very nice comment about me and made me wonder why she even was prompted to say it in the first place. So I decided to stay till red cup day (this whole write up happened the Tuesday before), gave my keys to another shift, and then after red cup day was over and I sent an email to my SM and DM about the issues I had with them and ending my termination, I never came back.

As for other partners, I've been there for two SMs being fired and being a part of them being fired (very nice people actually, but really awful at being managers sadly), and those were for things like making partners work while sick during the pandemic, and massive scheduling issues like completely disregarding partner availability and over-reimbursing themselves for gas and stuff. Regular baristas I've weirdly never seen fired. They either leave altogether or they just like, idk stop coming or just eventually disappear. My SMs have never actually fired anyone which has always been wierd to me o_O

first job at Tarbucks we had a girl fired for coming in an hour or two after our lead was scheduled off, telling the LOD that she had been called in by said lead, and working till the end of the day. she really did work, but lied to get more hours. now as a lead at a different licensed store dealing with extremely short staffing, I wish I had someone like that lol
Own-Adhesiveness-694 2 points 1y ago
I had a few partners and a shift lead fired for no call no show.
