if i see a “grande in a venti” or a “tall in a grande” you’re *getting* that space my guy, end of. you get what you paid for :)
krym32zamoon79 points1y ago
I had some woman argue that the difference between a tall and a grande is 2 Oz and she knows cause she always orders it so she wanted more dark roast. I didn't fight her on it cause she caught me in a moment I was doing everything under the sun. But it's 4 OZ and the amount she initially got was EXACTLY what she both ordered AND paid for. I hate people.
rutherfart41 points1y ago
I get soooo frustrated with this (as an ex-barista and now just custie) because sometimes I do the “___ in a ___” when I LEGITIMATELY just want the same amount of drink with extra ice without losing the original amount…. and then I get a drink that now has WAY too much milk.
accountedthrowaway519 points1y ago
oh yeah for sure! now i gotta remember to specify more ice when im off the clock cause i also don’t like super milky drinks lol
Binx_da_gay_cat25 points1y ago
Many kudos to the lady who did ask for a tqll pike in a grande cup and was like, "No seriously, I like a lot of room, don't fill it." (I wasn't about to but she was an absolute champ and I thank her mentally so much)
Like THANK YOU for not trying to get free coffee.
batman_thedead17 points1y ago
i only do that if i want extra ice tho :/
accountedthrowaway526 points1y ago
which makes sense but in this case the lady just wanted light ice
aoi4eg16 points1y ago
This "lifehack" existed since the first coffee shop opened, probably. Because a lot of people assume that baristas don't measure a drink prior and just guesstimate the amount by cup size.
BuckyBearns3 points1y ago
We just take the cup size they order fill it and dump it into the cup. 😂
International-Exam60266 points1y ago
“my venti drinks are never filled correctly” ma’am you ordered a grande 😭
3llybean39 points1y ago
This is killing me.
cbcbstargirl118 points1y ago
the first review is just so perfect it’s different if you said no ice and they thought you said light ice but it was a mobile order…
melodiic_92 points1y ago
"my normal frappa" 💀💀
demigirlhailee [OP]75 points1y ago
gods anytime anyone orders a "frappé" I specifically say "frappuccino" as many times as possible, same with acai. ik is a small point and we aren't much better than Macca's, but we are better and I will hold on to that sliver with every ounce of my being
Comfortable-Plane94435 points1y ago
Not to mention Starbucks coined the term “Frappuccino”, so that’s what they are.
I do the same thing as you do and repeat it back correctly to them. I also get a lot of people saying “venta” instead of “ venti”, for whatever reason
MsMadcap_32 points1y ago
“Venta” and “Trenti.” I always make them clarify which size, because I truly don’t think they understand what they’re ordering.
Possible-Pea845010 points1y ago
Sometimes at my store we'll repeat back exactly how they order stuff as ridiculous as it is. It's always the ones that sound so confident are the ones that kill us.
0x52and1x52-17 points1y ago
Ummmm no. Frappuccinos are indeed Frappés. They existed before Starbucks lol.
actually, while similar, frapuccinos are not frappés. the coffee is never frothed with sugar, and the ice is blended with the coffee and sweetener/flavorings. it is far closer to a "frozen cappuccino", which the name is derived from, than a frappé. all the more reason McDonald's and it's name pisses me off

THE LAST ONE HAHAHAH WTF. freedom of speech is great until it’s not
Brgnbo52 points1y ago
This reminds me of this guy at my store that ordered a nitro in a venti cup. And I was like … did you want ice?? And he was like no so I filled it up to a grande size. He had the nerve to be like why aren’t you filling it to the top??? Like ??? Did you want milk to the top??? Because it can’t all be nitro
DunderMifflin-ThisIs20 points1y ago
Nitro doesn’t get ice though right?
Brgnbo32 points1y ago
No but we have a few regulars that like getting nitros with ice. When they ask for a venti cup that’s what I assume they’re asking for usually
DunderMifflin-ThisIs18 points1y ago
I get you now. Grande in a venti cup and they want it filled up like it’s a venti right?
Brgnbo9 points1y ago
Exactly
jazzysoranio41 points1y ago
Maybe we’re coming at this the wrong way. Maybe we should all be giving our own stores one-star reviews and commenting “never been there.” 😂
greenduffel39 points1y ago
oh my god the grande in a venti made me laugh out loud
KingThen8817 points1y ago
I’m customer just wondering why do people want grande in venti cups? What’s the point
demigirlhailee [OP]27 points1y ago
it depends on the drink. for this person, they probably saw the "unethical life hack" from a few years ago saying that if you do this, often the barista doesn't check and justs makes the larger drink size. usually though, it's people who want extra ice because they're slow drinkers/busy while drinking and want to keep it cold, or for heat/coffee sensitive people who plan on putting extra cream in their coffee
edit: there's also some drinks that with a couple small changes or even just naturally make more than the size cup it's made for (like adding an extra shot to the shakes), so instead of the remains going to waste/getting the most out of their money, people will get it in the next size up, or even sometimes I'll just do it if it's a lot extra (and I don't want to "sample" the drink lol)
SelocAvrap37 points1y ago
Usually when I get something like a grande in a venti or a venti in a trenta, I want the extra space bc I fill the rest with alcohol when I get home
fenriz-fingers15 points1y ago
LMAO me too, strawberry vodka refresher is great
SelocAvrap8 points1y ago
I'm a big fan of vodka with the mango dragonfruit refresher too
demigirlhailee [OP]12 points1y ago
I mean, yeah. if I didn't live in a semi-dry state and had to go to a whole other store for anything stronger than wine, I'd always come home from work a SARL to add a shot of vodka to
SelocAvrap14 points1y ago
*Exactly* you know what's up
My original comment is sponsored by a trenta cup of half SAR base, half Malibu, lots of ice
Lavenderviolets6 points1y ago
I love a grande in a venti cup with extra ice, I can’t explain why but it tastes so much better.
NotyourangeLbabe16 points1y ago
Someone once argued with one of my partners that her cup wasn’t filled. She ordered a doppio, light cream, light iced, in a venti cup. Like, what was supposed to fill the cup??
VrginMobile3 points1y ago
Have you seen the orders with quad in a venti cup with cream, 2%milk, heavy cream and nonfat milk with whipp? We get them quite often and the cup looks full after we make it. Whipp helps cover some of the emptiness.
rutherfart2 points1y ago
NOOO LMAO
chaddybabydaddy2815 points1y ago
Same people that order a frap at 7:35, finally arrive at 8:50 and complain their whipped cream is soggy and the drink is starting to separate
VrginMobile1 points1y ago
Had someone argue once that their drink was cold when they picked it up just a bit after we made it but they came back like 13 mins later so obviously it would be colder by then. My fellow barista gave her extra hot drinks with standard whip cream so the drink wouldn't get cold. It was almost close we were tired so we just gave up on this one.
official_koda_15 points1y ago
Of course you’re just gonna be sucking up air in your “frappa” if you want an absurd amount of caramel so it can’t go through the straw
Feeling-Pear-7592 points1y ago
She ordered extra whip with a Frappuccino that already comes with whip at the bottom lol. A lot of people don’t know what drink they are ordering
nickintheback0811 points1y ago
My frappa!
rutherfart10 points1y ago
Not to mention it’s a freaking GTL… like 25% of that shit is foam lmao
Bhaisaab865 points1y ago
I hate the shaken GRTLs. I get a lot of hate from my crew because I make them the old way. ¼”-½” of hot water in the cup, swirl the matcha til it’s dissolved. Then milk and ice. Never gritty/chunky, and no foam.
Channano882 points1y ago
I do mine the exact same way, always turn out perfect!
fawnaluna10 points1y ago
yeah no if you order a grande in a venti cup IM USING THE GRANDE MEASURMENTS i’ll pour the extra in for them but like?? you got what you paid for…
iwantyourpoison9 points1y ago
god i wish you could reply to reviews
megs12887 points1y ago
The baristas at my store always fill the no ice cups and I hate it but I do it because Everyone else does and I don’t care enough to argue with customers overs it. I wish we had a strict corporate policy about it
monochromaticcat6 points1y ago
“I dont know anything about starbuck.” Is making me laugh so hard rn. All the reviews for my store are like “DRIVE THRU LINE TOO LONG!!!! DRINK TAKES TOO LONG TO MAKE!! NEVER COMING BACK HERE” we are a high volume store and just get absolutely swamped every single day it’s so bad :( our drive thru line legitimately wraps around the building and stretches into the parking lot of the McDonald’s next door, i hate it here.
EDIT: Holy shit I just checked the reviews again and there’s one that names me by name and says I rock ;w; thank you customer, I’m trying

i get so frustrated when they ask why their cup isn’t full. you paid for a grande. you get a grande
anitasdoodles3 points1y ago
Lol bitch you paid for a grande. I wouldn’t fill it up either thief.
Humble_Aide_61402 points1y ago
There should be a rule, if you don’t understand your own order you can’t mobile order 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Feeling-Pear-7591 points1y ago
I really wish we could reply back to the reviews cause a lot of people don’t know what they are talking about.
