What will Starbucks do now since the OSHA vaccine mandate is being blocked (at least temporarily)? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Im just curious if anyone may know. I’m assuming that Starbucks plans on still going through with requiring partners to be vaccinated as policy. As far as I can evaluate, it seem like big businesses can still enforce this individually, but it won’t be federally required for them to do so. Is this correct?

I think that they likely won’t be requiring the weekly tests or vaccination anymore for partners, since the weekly update said they were just preparing for the anticipated feb 9th enforcement date, but at the bottom of the weekly update it said that it wasn’t a sure thing based on whether the mandate was passed or not

I think they're still going to go through with it

I think they will still go through with it, but maybe extend the deadline. I also am curious to know if Biden will try another way to get the mandate to pass since the Supreme Court just blocked osha from mandating the vaccine. There are other ways the president can go through with a vaccine mandate constitutionally in the eyes of the Supreme Court.

Also, according to the account of a store manager on another thread, Rosann (VP) said (on some workplace forum portal thingy) they would only go through with it if OSHA gets approved. However, it technically still isn’t over until a final decision from the Sixth Circuit (I have no idea what that is tbh).

The 6th circuit put a stay on the mandate before it was lifted and went to SCOTUS. I also don't really know the court system, only that they were involved prior to the SCOTUS ruling.

Oh so that most likely means the mandate then.

Not sure. I'm betting the update Monday will tell us though.

I was told that only CDC can carry out such a mandate legally, but for some reason they are hands-off right now.
