Q for baristas in the hiring process(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mariminami
Hello! I wanted to see if I could get some feedback here
I recently applied for a job at a Starbucks and got an interview. It went very well, and she said she would contact me in a week or so. It’s been 3 weeks and I haven’t heard anything, so I wanted to try and call to see if I could just get an update or just closure that maybe I didn’t get it.
The phone at the Starbucks seems to be disconnected because it gives me an automated verizion message.
I was really excited to hopefully get hired but I’m not sure what to do at this point. Should I go in person and ask? Should I just forget it and try somewhere else? Has anyone had a situation like this?
Thank you!

Unless you're desperate, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. If this is how the hiring process is handled, I can't imagine working there would be any more organized or proficient.

Very true. I didn’t even think about that. Thank you for your input!

I just got hired and my first shift was a couple days ago, maybe I can help, as someone who just finished the hiring process.
I applied to my store on a Thursday I believe, and got a text from my manager that Monday to schedule an interview. I got hired on the spot and the next day, she sent my background check and some paperwork through email. But I’m luckier than most, a lot of Baristas apparently had to wait a while. I think my store was just desperate for staff.
It seems a lot of store managers do their admin stuff (make schedules, check applications if they need baristas, etc) on Monday mornings. If you call then and still don’t get an answer, maybe go in person after the morning rush is over (around 10 AM ish).
Just kindly remind them that you had an interview and would like to know the status of your application. If your answer is no, at least you know to move on. You also might want to apply to other stores too. I applied to every store in my area (6+) before my store finally reached out. Some stores might need baristas, some might not

I got hired about 7 months ago. The process only took about 10 days from application to onboarding. I had an interview scheduled 3 days after I applied and was hired on the spot. My background check started immediately after, which took 3 days. 4 days later, I was onbarded and officially became a partner.
I am sharing my personal experience because I am not sure if this was the norm or if I lucked out. I'd say you may as well go to your store sometime around 10AM (most managers would be here around this time if they are working that day). Ask politely and calmly if there's any update on your application. The worst they can either say is that they rejected you or give you a non-answer, which you can just take as a sign to move on. Heck, alot of us are so short staffed your store might be losing their minds over somebody coming back and wanting the job. If not, chances are they are somehow full staffed. Try another store, as they might need the extra help, or try reapplying in very late May to become a summer hire.
