Thinking of Quitting, Need Advice (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by matchawaffles
I have been kind of back and forth between this for the past few weeks, but I need advice as to whether or not I should put my two weeks in.

For context, I started working in August of 2021 at a drive-thru location, around the same time that I started my first semester of college. I actually really like my co-workers and would be sad to leave, but I CANNOT STAND the company nor the customers. I am tired of being treated as an expendable "employee", especially now that COVID-19 is getting much worse, and I live in a state that doesn't take COVID seriously. The job is literally so bad that I have developed alopecia areata, a form of alopecia where the immune system attacks hair follicles when someone is under SEVERE stress. I really do not want to lose my hair, or get sick because this company doesn't respect me as a person.

So what do you think, should I find a new part-time job, or stay?

babe get a new job, this isnt worth loosing hair when you already have a hair issue, maybe end things well so after covid you can try to come back or smth

Get. Out. Starbucks is abusive as fuck. There was a time when I felt like they took care of their partners but it has been close to five years since I feel like that was true. They get people to stay because you do like your coworkers a lot and you feel bonded to them because you’ve been through some shit with them. There are way better jobs out there

I left Starbucks a few years ago and IT FEELS SO GOOD! It’s just coffee, value yourself (:

Look for a job in the mean time. 2 week notice is just a courtesy to the employer. Best time to look for a new or different job is when you currently have one. Idk how you expenses and finances are, but keep that in mind.

omg i also started in august 21 and was a freshman is college. I just put my two weeks in and it took me forever to actually do it. If this job is causing you that much stress, please quit! I promise you, you’ll find some place that doesn’t make you feel that way. Starbucks is not worth risking your mental or physical health. Good luck <3

The best thing I’ve done for my mental and physical health in the past 2 or 3 years was quitting Starbucks.
