You come into my drive thru and I ask if you got any fun plans for the weekend and you tell me no because, "everyone at home has covid" I am done being nice to you. Window, closed until I have to hand your inconsiderate mask-less ass your fucking caramel machiatto. I can not stand these stupid fucks we call our customers

Everyone is getting covid. My brothers coworker was coming to work with the sniffles and come to find out their whole family at home has covid. He asked them why they would come to work and they just said they’ve been vaccinated so they didn’t think they had covid. They had covid. Brother and his family now have covid.

Ughh...I can't. I'm really hoping they start rolling out the self tests en mass so we can start being safer. It's onething to not know because you have mild symptoms during cold flu season. It's another to knowingly going out with covid
breadstickez23 points1y ago
My problem is people who are just DENSE. I have friends/family members that are not as covid paranoid as I am who will make casual comments like "ugh my nose is so runny today" and then later I hear them cough, followed by a "I've just been so tired lately" and I'm sitting there like "Do you really not have alarm bells going off right now?" I'm on high alert every time I hear a respiratory noise out of /anyone/. It frustrates the hell out of me because they aren't doing it intentionally. They just don't seem to put two and two together.
MsMadcap_1 points1y ago
That sounds like a personal issue though…your anxiety level is not normal. Your triggers are not anybody else’s responsibility.
breadstickez1 points1y ago
No, they aren’t and I’m not asking them to be. But my point is frustration with people who are obviously sick but either not aware or not willing to admit they are. I’m frustrated with people who casually mention several common symptoms of covid but never thought to give others a heads up, get tested, or at least wear a mask. That’s not asking others to be responsible for my anxiety.
arctic-apis-24 points1y ago
I don’t think you should worry that much you are not that likely to be hospitalized or killed or even get sick if you are vaccinated. Most of my coworkers have had covid by now one of them early last year 73year old. He did not survive but almost every tone else there who has had it barely got sick.
breadstickez16 points1y ago
I'm less worried about myself and more worried about those I would be around not knowing I was sick. I'm also not anxious to take that much time off of work if I do get sick. We also don't know what the long term effects of COVID are going to be in 20-30 years. Chicken pox shows up as shingles later in life. Mono is linked to MS. If I can avoid getting ill, I'd really prefer to. And it frustrates me that others don't take it seriously because of that.

Everyone is getting covid. I mean it. Probably multiple times. It sounds like you are doing your part but it’s just way to easy for an asymptotic covid positive person to walk around infecting dozens of people even if everyone involved is vaccinated. I carry hand sanitizer in my car and clean masks I’m trying to do what I can to reduce the risk of transmission but I have no doubt that covid is here to stay and everyone will eventually get it
uwumoment3 points1y ago
dude i live with my grandparents, they’re vaccinated but id rather NOT risk having them get sick and dying. and yet i’m in college and they’re having in person classes and the person next to me was coughing. people are so inconsiderate
arctic-apis0 points1y ago
Just do what you can do. Hope your elders are vaccinated and get booster shots. There is no sure fire way to prevent covid aside from total isolation so just do what you can do. People get mad when you say it but it doesn’t make it less true, covid is here to stay and will likely infect every human on earth eventually probably multiple times. Maybe you are lucky and “never catch the flu” I know I am one of those people who rarely gets sick but eventually it’ll get you. May your symptoms be mild and your recovery swift.

Right. I can't trust anyone who orders the medicine ball anymore
verdeuce22 points1y ago
*RINGRINGRING* Starbucks streetname how can I help you? “Do you have the medicine ball? *sniffclearsthroat*” NO STAY HOME
pinkraisin9 points1y ago
Yo the amount of customers that cough/sneeze while ordering 😐
CardiographicDuck5 points1y ago
And they always sound like they’ve just lost their voice..
ZestycloseRate73301 points1y ago
That is literally how my coworker and I got COVID. From a fucking sick customer ordering a medicine ball that we can’t make cause we’re out of shit. I’ve been home from pretty much a week now not expected back until Thursday. Can we stop letting people sit in our damn stores? I want to go back to ordering for take out only. Better yet, back to taking orders at the fucking door😑
tacosubterfuge5 points1y ago
Honestly... it's actually so depressing. You want to sit and talk to them but you never know what is going on. *assume positive intent*... I've had people come in voices gone, maskless ordering shit. And for what? Some fucking steamed, box lemonade and honey SYRUP?
When the fuck did this turn into the minute clinic? I'm sincerely scared for us sometimes.
amazing_redhead [OP]4 points1y ago
Know what would be a win win for us and Starbucks is if they bottle the HCMT and sold ot in stores, kinda like the Lipton tea
Kindly-Wear-62904 points1y ago
Just throwing out there that they could have been the first one in the family who had it and are good to be out now but the rest of the family caught it from them and they aren’t able to, because I’m living that life right now.
amazing_redhead [OP]5 points1y ago
Maybe if it was only one customer that this rant was about.
-Zispy4 points1y ago
Can’t you still spread it if you just got over it but are living with people who all have it?
tacosubterfuge3 points1y ago
Especially trading cards/money. We pick up germs everywhere.
heyitsme9632 points1y ago
I know you meant credit cards, but I want a drive-through Pokémon card trading station
sbuxpainthrowaway1 points1y ago
trading cards being the example before money is making me laugh
Kindly-Wear-62901 points1y ago
Nope. I have antibodies and tested negative. Shouldn’t catch it from my household again. This round, anyways.

I got covid because I was outta town my sibling at their sbux went to work and got it from a coworker. Multiple people at their store has it and my whole family has it. I got hit with symptoms right after coming home and going to work. I still have it. And I keep getting asked how I'm doing and when I'm might be able to come back to work.
I have had constant fevers since the 5th of January. I worked the 4th and called in that night for my next day shift because I was in severe pain, having a splitting headache so bad i thought it was a migraine, coughing that sounded like when I had bronchitis, I was hot and cold, and I was severely congested. I had a positive covid test that Friday.
I was give 5 days until I was still running fevers and told my manager about it. I'm scheduled for one day this week and idk if I will be able to work it. All because someone came in sick to work. My sibling has gotten better and so is many of my family members since I last heard, but I'm not.
