Idk about being “required” to bring your own but usually at my store they’ll have a few scattered around. you just gotta look. I always bring my own just in case.

Just have them in your hand or in your pocket. Putting it on the counter is like the void.

Technically it's part of your uniform, a sharpie and I believe a pen (because dating is a part of the job). At least this is what I was trained in late 2018. Just keep them in your apron pocket. I think in my 3 years I've lost like 3 of them this way.

I, SM, buy a box of 30 or so every couple of months and hand them out to new hires. If anyone asks I give them out but they are under lock and key. If I left the box out they wouldn’t last a week, if it’s anything like nametags. I order a pack of name tags every single week so that everyone is always wearing one. If I cleaned out all of my partners cars I’m confident I’d find 100 sharpies and name tags interchangeably 😂

But your own? Uhhhh no lol I took my happy ass down to Staples and spent $100 of Kev Dawgs money bc I paid myself out for those sharpies, highlighters, box cutters (that don’t suck), P-Touch labels, printer paper, etc.

They are part of your uniform, just as servers need pens to do their job. You could mark your pens/sharpies, other than that. That’s how it was when o was a server, some stores buy them for you, some don’t🤷🏼‍♀️

your SM should order some, you could ask. i’ve used the same sharpie since idk, september? i just don’t let anyone walk away w it if they borrow it. or i keep the cap, bc they’ll ruin their apron if they stick a cap less sharpie in their pocket. every time i lose one it usually ends up in my car between the seats 😂

i also use colorful sharpie. everyone in my store knows if a maroon sharpie is on the counter, it’s mine. you could try that if your store is okay w it

The shift/manager can order them on the RP order, ask your shift!

I wore a long necklace with a black cord that I would hang a couple sharpies from there, and because I’m a asshole I wouldn’t share them with my coworkers. Never lost any sharpies

Get your own & write your name in big letters on duct tape. That sharpie will always find its way back to you.

My SM orders them but let me tell you I was frustrated I couldn’t find a pen one day, I usually bring my own but just switched aprons and forgot to bring some with me, and when I looked to my barista and said we should have more pens she gave me the worst attitude like “go buy your own we don’t have to provide them” like she was personally paying out of pocket for the store. As a workplace where we date a bunch of things, they should be provided.

My store never provided them when I worked there, I left end of 2017 so it’s been a while but this was back when we wrote all cups instead of using stickers. We always had to bring our own sharpies.
