SM scheduling me for noncoverage every Friday and Sunday for the next 3 weeks. Is this normal?? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Title states all basically. They stated that the Friday is for putting packages away but they even stated that it wouldn’t take my whole 5 hour shift to put it away. Literally my whole shift Friday’s (5-10am) and Sundays (3:45-9:30) fully noncoverage. It doesn’t make sense as to why they’d do this.

This normal at least for my store. We get two orders a week so a barista comes in for about a 4-5 hour shift to organize, put the order away and set up retail. Honestly those shifts are the best because you can just pop in ear phones and put stuff away.

That’s fair!! I’m a fairly new green bean so I just wanted to be sure it was normal.

Probably to give extra labor to the floor to be honest

What does this mean?

Basically the system calculates a certain amount of hours that can be used for scheduling for the week. Non coverage is essentially not counted in that (there’s still a limit to how much non coverage can be used) so occasionally you’ll see that in the case of your sm might think your store needs an extra set of hands that day, but don’t have enough hours to use
