maybe like… just get the vaccine instead of putting your coworkers and everyone else around you at risk.

Getting the vaccine reduces the risk of you catching Covid. This, in turn, reduces the risk of you *spreading* Covid. It does directly protect you, but it also indirectly protects those around you too. That's sort of the whole reason we're trying to get *everyone* vaccinated.
Electrical_Metal_1061 points1y ago
Everyone at my store that have tested positive in the last month are all vaxed and boosted.
Kings_and_Dragons1 points1y ago
Reducing and fully preventing aren't the same thing. The vaccine *does* reduce your chances of getting Covid. Everyone should be getting vaccinated to reduce spread, *and* everyone should be social distancing and being responsible to reduce spread.

At this point I don't know how to tell you that you should care about other people

I am with you that everyone that can should but we don’t know OP’s situation and they may not be able to.
autumatop0eia9 points1y ago
from what they’ve been typing it seems that they’re just stubborn..IDK guess you can’t argue with ignorance
dthomp0806-8 points1y ago
Vaccine or not, you can still get and spread covid. So the different rules for unvaccinated people is complete bs. In fact, everyone at my store who's vaccinated and boosted has gotten covid numerous times. Rules and procedures should be the same for everyone.

People like you irritate me by continuing to put my mom who has cancer at further risk. Good looking out though, hope you find a job that allows you your freedoms

I don’t care if it’s your choice or not. It’s extremely irresponsible and don’t complain about when it’s extremely simple to fix (by getting the vaccine). Just because you don’t feel symptoms doesn’t mean you can’t spread it and literally KILL SOMEONE.
l0vely_poopface5 points1y ago
It is your choice, no one is taking that from you. Choices come with consequences, one of which, in this case, is getting tested weekly.

Get vaccinated or quit, that's literally your choice.
People like you irritate me even more than people who accept they don't want to get vaccinated will cause there to be consequences.
jackv2812 points1y ago
I personally don't understand a reason not to get it but it seems a simple solution would be to quit your job
maddawgg7107 points1y ago
That’s super illegal dude. IN THIS WEEKS WEEKY UPDATE , it specifically says we don’t have to do that anymore due to Supreme Court.. so either your manager really want to be fired for taking your rights away wth
nutria_twiga6 points1y ago
When I read the update yesterday, they stated they (Starbucks) knew the Supreme Court overturned it but the company would get back to us regarding their policy.
Did an update come out in the afternoon? My shift was over at 9am on Tuesday.
maddawgg7101 points1y ago
In the weekly update it specifies we don’t need to do the weekly testing
Ristrettooo3 points1y ago
The Supreme Court overruled the president’s order that large employers have to require vaccinations or weekly tests. Private businesses can still have vaccine requirements if they choose to; there’s nothing illegal there.
However, Starbucks doesn’t have such a requirement in place right now. OP, if you work in a corporate store, talk to your DM or call 877-sbux-411 for clarification since your manager is breaking company policy.
l0vely_poopface1 points1y ago
Supreme court said it can't be done via OSHA, but not through company policy. Or am I missing something?
Few_Conclusion_88241 points1y ago
Policy was announced that in anticipation of this ruling going through that everyone should get vaxed they’re not enforcing it directly but they are saying that everyone must be tested and negative with no vaccine . I agree depending on the managers wording I’m sure some sort of compensation is available.
Ok-Outside7051 points1y ago
I’m close to contacting corporate atm idk wut to do
maddawgg7102 points1y ago
I think you should try to contact them. Or at least try to say something to a higher higher uo
nothaley996 points1y ago
sorry but these are the new rules currently. any company with 100+ employees must require vaccination per CDC rules, and if you’re not vaccinated you’re required to be tested weekly for the safety of your team. No at home instant tests due to lack of reliability. It is what it is for those who chose not to get vaccinated.
dthomp08063 points1y ago
Weekly testing wasnt starting till February 9th, and that was before the supreme court ruling. They will likely update this week and follow the ruling.
DunderMifflin-ThisIs2 points1y ago
This is outdated information, the Supreme Court just overturned that.
matchawaffles5 points1y ago
If you are able to, get the vaccine. If you cannot for health reasons, talk to corporate. Simple.
Comfortable-Plane9444 points1y ago
… just get vaccinated. Like… just do it
Gh0st_W6lker3 points1y ago
I understand where you are coming from. However, I think it's in your best interest to get vaccinated. Let's ignore the medical reasons for a second. What's to say your new employer won't have a vaccine requirement in the future. Also I don't see battle for vaccine mandates ending anytime soon, so to simplify your life in these complex times it may be beneficial to get the vaccine. Given your work situation with your manager, I would contact your DM. If that fails I would then contact HR. I was under the impression they weren't allowed to enforce that. I wish you luck with your situation

Make sure you line another job up first.
The situation you’re in sounds terrible, best of luck that things work out. Hang in there.
evilash851 points1y ago
The vaccine and testing mandate is no longer in place. They can’t make you do this. You need to call corporate.
l0vely_poopface2 points1y ago
They can though, they're a private business
evilash851 points1y ago
Of course they can, but they aren’t. So it doesn’t really apply to what OP is saying.
l0vely_poopface2 points1y ago
Understood
Electrical_Metal_1060 points1y ago
I’d contact your DM and also a lawyer. This sounds like harassment considering it is NOT company policy that you have to get tested.
Top_Bend-5 points1y ago
That’s illegal tho the vaccine mandate did not pass
ravenousbloodunicorn1 points1y ago
why is this getting downvotes? lmao
l0vely_poopface3 points1y ago
Because any private business can require vaccination if they want. It's what the GOP always touts, no government intervention. This means businesses are free to require this of their employees if they want.
