We pulled all the mats to the back and mopped the floor. Then we mopped the mats in the back and put them back out.

i see your mopping and raise you a deck brushing

This is what we always did, or stacked them between the bar and the back. Never got to take them outside.

It’s pretty gross but we spray heavily with restroom spray and scrub with a long handed scrub brush. It sends a spray of thick black suds and is pretty slippery. No rinsing it away. I don’t recommend it but I’m not a boss just a minion so I do it the way they tell me

We do ours this way too. It’s so gross and really doesn’t clean them. We wipe the cleaner off with the white rags. It’s gross.

Yes I guess it just disinfects the dirt and slime. We should move them to the drain in front of the BOH sink and hose them off into the drain

Restroom cleaner is awful for the mats. What I like to do is sprinkle them generously with blue spray and then mop them with very hot mop water and let them dry.

how hasn’t starbucks come up with a better way to clean these fucking maps?! like they should have slightly tilted floors in the BOH with drains in the middle of the floor. so we could like soak the mats and let the water drip in the drains to dry. also the stores should be equipped with a hose in BOH especially since not all stores can take them outside. mine can’t abs i wish we could!

I dont clean the mats anymore because my schedule changed, but what I did in the winter was clean them in the mop sink. Take them back and prop it up, spray it with bleach, scrub it, use the mop sink to rinse it. It’s kinda messy and gets water all over the place but I’d always do it before we did BOH floors anyway so it worked out.

This is what I do as well. They dry pretty quickly when they’re propped up, too.
But make sure you do them BEFORE the floors nearby, or you’ll be doing the floor twice.

We would take them into a bathroom before deep cleaning it, mop the mats on the floor, and then mop the whole bathroom clean afterwards. Lots of restroom cleaner on the mats plus the heavy duty scrub brush, squeegee it all down the bathroom floor drain. Plus you can do it without being bothered by guests with the door locked.

I heard that the same company that brings our rags and mop heads also has a program that swaps out floor mats. If this is true, I really wish Starbucks would switch to this.

We used to put them through the sanitizer - you do have to completely drain and run a wash cycle through after to get rid of debris but it always worked like a charm!

I use to work next to a car wash, we would do a paid out and pressure wash them once a month. Amazing.
BatWeary1 points1y ago
if we could do this i would literally ask to do mats specifically
Js_On_My_Yeet2 points1y ago
We bring them to the mop sink and just clean it however we can there

Umm I don't think we've ever taken them outside 😅 I don't normally do the floors but usually we pull all the mats into the back in a pile, sweep and mop where the mats were, then use restroom cleaner and a deck scrubber on the mats one at a time and then put them back out on the floor when they're clean.
We also mop the spot in the back where we cleaned the mats after bc it gets pretty gross
sadsammihours1 points1y ago
we put them in the mop thing where you fill the bucket up and use the tube to spray it and use a cute brush to scrub the gunk and then rinse it off with the same hose

When it gets too cold here (Midwest), I just take them into the largest bathroom and use the floor drain. I’m lucky enough to have a bathroom that’s about 12 feet long in one direction though—not sure what I’d do if it were smaller.
Edit: If unclear, I do this one mat at a time.
