if a partner calls out because they were in a car accident before their shift, they shouldnt be responsible for finding coverahe right? or if they call out the next day due to lingering pain from thw accident? bc we had a partner get told he had to find coverage for bis shifts after an accidenr and that just doesnt sit right with me

if you’re in a car accident, no it’s not your responsibility to find coverage. it is your responsibility to call and let the store know. the manager should follow up with the partner just to make sure how long they’re gonna be out for and when their return date should be.
if your sm isn’t doing that, take it up to the dm. hopefully something will be resolved soon

it’s in the lil book they give us when we start working that you don’t have to find your own coverage, as long as they know you’ll be out you can just smile and say yes and forget about it

I think it depends on your store. I got in a car accident that made my car undrivable when i was on the way to work a few months ago, and My manager diddnt say anything about me having to find my own coverage, although the store did close early since i was their closer. My manager also offered to take my shift the next day too if i needed it (I also am blessed to have a fantastic manager). I think with trauma like that, you shouldn’t be required to find your own coverage because it can be considered as an emergency depending on the situation. But communication is key too!

we found out the problem is my store manager deciding people arent allowed to use sick time anytime she would be inconvenienced. so we reported her for that lol
