my sm told us we’re now required to wear the 3ply medical masks (those blue paper ones) instead of just cloth masks and it kinda sucks bc my face/neck literally breaks out into a NASTY rash when i wear them 🤩 it isn’t up for negotiation so we’ll see how this goes ig

funny part is the “medical” masks our store gets on order clearly state they are not medical grade and are honestly worse than just a cloth mask, but now we must either wear those or N95s or combination with cloth mask. just paid $50 for 20 n95s bc our store won’t buy them for us :/

That's complete bs that corporate won't buy them for us. They're SO expensive, which aside from sustainability is why I invested in good cloth masks. They were good enough to keep me safe and healthy the last month when about 20 of my partners contracted covid/when I was most definitely working with exposed people. Hopefully we can go back to the mask of our choice soon.

Update: my manager told me today that he ordered extra masks for partners, which is great. Sustainability will still take a hit, but at least partners won't have to dig into their own pockets.

I’d highly recommend getting KN-95 masks, they are much cheaper, more comfortable, and they are explicitly approved

Hey y’all! Not a barista but my wife is. She’s being told she is actually not allowed to wear the N95s because of this policy update. That can’t be legal right?

I'm on my ten right now and my shift just came up and gave me one and said she hates the new rule too because these blue masks hurt her ears. Honestly I'm really freaking glad I only have a week and a half left at this company because I just can't handle these dumb rules, what the hell is wrong with my cloth mask???
