Wishful thinking (self.starbucksbaristas)

I wish customers would know what they actually want. "Hi, can I get a caramel macchiato, but instead of the caramel, can I get 9 pumps of sf vanilla?" Make the drink and customer asks where the caramel drizzle is at. 🤦. Learn how to order, people.

Did you also put the regular vanilla

No. I totally should have. I had never served this person before, but know the type all too well. They don't realize there is vanilla in the caramel macchiato and that the macchiato part is literally the marking on top.

I used to run a non Starbucks coffeeshop in an investment company and had a customer ask for a macchiato one time. When I gave her the tiny cup of espresso with the textured milk on top, she looked at me like I was the idiot for not knowing what the Starbucks menu had, even though I was not running a Starbucks. 🤦😂

Macchiato literally means marked. It means caramel marked. But most people don’t know that.

Very true. You have two types of customers, those who think they know and those that actually go to regular coffeeshops and understand the lingo.

I was a trained senior barista for my old company. We had to take a training and a test on terminology and methods from a European company.
