I went to work and was told my Starbucks cloth mask must be replaced with a reusable paper mask. I asked if I could wear a cloth mask underneath the paper mask and was told this is not allowed and I must wear the paper mask on my face. The paper mask causes severe irritation on my face which then usually leads to a case of painful peeling acne around my mouth. I wasn’t given an explanation as to why Starbucks is making this new policy and I am wondering if anyone else knows the “science” behind it. If I’m going to have an embarrassing rash around my mouth I’d at least like to know why…

Wait, I thought policy was that we were still allowed to do the cloth mask over the disposable mask????

I think OP is saying that they were told the paper mask had to be next to the skin (cloth over) and OP would prefer the cloth mask under their paper mask due to skin sensitivity.
OP maybe you can try a mask bracket? You can find them on Amazon and they keep the mask up off your face some. I find them really helpful for front and dtr especially because they make the mask not go into my mouth all the time. I have a round double chin and the paper ones slip up my face all day long so I end up with pain in my jaw from contorting my mouth to keep it down

OP wants to put the cloth mask *under* the disposable mask. Not sure on why that would be different.

I ordered two different brands of kf94 masks online, I’ll post back how my skin reacts to both. I called the partner help line and was told kf94, three ply masks, and n95 masks are allowed. I just had to spend 40$ on 20 disposable masks which kind of sucks considering how often I work but I’m going to try and figure out a way to clean/re-use them. I’ll let you know!

When you log into the Hub (partner.starbucks.com) the very first thing in the left column is Store News and Resources/Store communications and it usually has a number next to it for how many current communications there are. That’s where you’ll find the weekly update and any announcements

Buy masks that don't irritate your skin? I wear an n95 that has a soft inside rim so my skin is hardly touched and the part that is doesn't get irritated. They dont buy your shoes or your clothes, don't rely on your employer to provide you with masks.

I have my own masks, they insisted I wear the reusable ones they provide . I showed up with a cloth mask that I got from starbucks earlier this year and was told I could not wear my cloth masks. I will ask if they will allow my own N95.

The CDC made an announcement that cloth masks are not as effective as the disposable ones. Are the ones you have at home cloth or surgical masks/N95’s because that may be why they changed their policy.
