ASU benefits (self.starbucksbaristas)

Does anyone know how the ASU benefit works above $5,250? I’m trying to figure out how much actually comes out after taxes/does anyone get a rebate after? Thanks!

I have no idea how it works or how the tax breaks down. I owed almost 1,200$ out of my paycheck (over the course of 2). I spent a lot of time on the phone with ASU and with Starbucks to try to figure out how they came to this number (not mad about being taxed I get it I’m just upset that no one seemed to know how this number happened so they could explain it to me). Other people had much less though so I’m not really sure. I know if you go on to your partner info it will tell you how they “break it down”.

It comes as “income”, so you’re taxed per your tax rate (12%,22%, ect…) I’m just trying to find out how much this is actually gonna cost me/what the T-1098 will say… :/ I hope ASU knows the financials :/ I don’t wanna pay 12K in taxes because this bumped me into the next tax bracket. :/

Side note. When I applied I was offered grants. When you take those they count first then Starbucks covers the rest. So if you get offered any grants from financial aid or whatever that can help ease the tax issue. I can’t tell you actual number but that should at least give you some peace of mind if you don’t make a lot.

Nope, my mommy and daddy make too much. It’s great lol. Only thing I was offered was unsubsidized loans. I’m not super worried because I also got a 5k+ tax rebate last year. I’m just slightly bummed because I’m not getting support from my parents because of my sister’s autism disorder and….that’s somewhat crummy.
