Hey! I'm 45 min southwest of Chicago in a neighboring County. I make 14.67 an hour plus tips which usually averages out to about ~1.00-1.50 an hour!

when i transferred out in august, my wage was $14.32 as a barista in the suburbs. (we got the cook county wage tho) and i’ve been working there for over 1.5 years (289****). and i know there’s gonna be a raise again in jan and probably sometime in the summer (not sure abt that one tho) so it really depends. the shifts at my store we’re making around $18

how do you like chicago if you don’t mind me asking ? would you say it’s affordable
blahblahcapitalism 1 points 1y ago
i’m probably not the best person to ask cause i was in high school when i was there so i was just living with my parents. but i would say apartments go for about $1800/month in the city. as for liking it, i’ve only ever lived there, so i guess im used to it but there are a lot of homeless people if u don’t mind that

moved here a few months ago and my pay went from $10 to $15.50 then got raised to a little over $16 after the raise. also, at least at my store, masks are required!
