What’s the point in asking for a grande drink in a venti when you’re asking for light ice? (i.redd.it)

they think we’ll fill it to the top lmao
lilpanita 48 points 1y ago
there’s a man who frequents my store who orders a grande iced coffee in a venti cup, light ice light soy… i remember one time i was asking him for clarification if he wanted more soy and he goes, “no just fill it up with more iced coffee” lol… no dude
LogicalPineapple1377 22 points 1y ago
Grande amount of coffee and stuff, then room to add the cold foam on top without taking away from the coffee. Since they’re paying for both it makes sense to me as a barista to give them the coffee like it would be in a grande then just top with foam
Aurora_Boreallis [OP] 5 points 1y ago
Standard only makes an inch of foam if you’re making it correctly
LogicalPineapple1377 4 points 1y ago
But still taking up an inch of space from the coffee they’re paying for. You’re right it wouldn’t necessarily fill the cup ordering it this way, but if you ask for a grande cold brew light ice, you get cold brew to the top. That amount in a venti cup, then an inch of cold foam if you’re sticking to the standard. There might be room left in the venti cup still, but they get the cold brew for what they paid for, and the cold foam which they paid for. Putting it in a venti cup is the only way for them to get the grande coffee with cold foam without sacrificing coffee.

And to second what others have said, we don’t get paid to care. It works for the customer, it’s not anymore difficult for us as baristas…

It sucks but no
One is asking you to pay to remake something or give a customer what they ask for… and I just don’t care to deal with a customer who complains it’s easier to just give them
What they want! 177**** for reference as to why idgaf
lillyyoulosers 5 points 1y ago
Yes and no, I don’t get paid to care how much sweet cream foam you want, 1/3 inch, inch, 4 inches? But what I care about is inventory, if your stores are anything like mine, we’ve been completely out of venti ice cups, if you mobiled this to my store we’d have to put your drink in a trenta cup that leads to incorrect inventory and even less cup sizes to offer other customers. These outages and shipping delays have been brutal to us.

Fair. That’s a whole other can of worms though 😂
Aurora_Boreallis [OP] 3 points 1y ago
So you missed the comment where I made the drink in a grande to standard and then poured it I. A venti then added the foam. I made the drink correctly and yes it does matter because you do it for one you have to do it for all and that’s where the problems starts. There are drink standards for a reason.
LogicalPineapple1377 0 points 1y ago
No I read that, and like I said, that’s fair - leaving room in the venti cup is totally standard for how the drink was ordered, and I’m not saying I would fill it to the top by any means. All I’m saying is it’s a valid way to order it to get the amount of coffee grande drink, and the standard foam on top. Regardless of room left. The bigger cup is to accommodate the addition of the foam, not unreasonable, and not an issue for us as baristas
Aurora_Boreallis [OP] 19 points 1y ago
And not pictured an inch of room at the top.
Seriously_jst_4real 19 points 1y ago
Dude ya'll are nice.

They order a grande, they get a grand amount of drink and room at the top.
Lampinglamp 16 points 1y ago
listen, they don’t pay us enough to care
lwkyrxnt 3 points 1y ago
Lol FR. Some of my coworkers be taking it so seriously. Great job saving starbucks those .03¢!
Lampinglamp 3 points 1y ago
they’ll make the argument that it adds up over time. like on what? your pay check? cause i can assure you it’s not
Aurora_Boreallis [OP] 15 points 1y ago
I made it in a grande cup then poured it into the venti and did the standard inch of foam leaving him with an inch of room
Seriously_jst_4real 1 points 1y ago
😁👍
Ristrettooo 17 points 1y ago
I’ve met a bunch of people who want a lot of room so they can add protein powder or some other ingredient on their own
PTOKEN 1 points 1y ago
This is the most common reasoning ive seen. Although a good handful of people excpect me to fill it to the top and get mad when i dont lol
jawn_cena_ 7 points 1y ago
Cuz they're trying to save like 50¢ by not ordering a venti
StrawbaerryJay 6 points 1y ago
I will waste a grande cup to measure everything out just to be THAT person. I do not care.
tbb10 4 points 1y ago
Like my “why is my brown sugar shaken espresso with no ice empty!?! And I don’t want a latte 😡” … huh
emily_renae99 2 points 1y ago
Someone ordered a brown sugar shaken espresso with no ice a few days ago. I put in in the shaker and very slowly tried to shake it so the lid would stay on…it exploded all over me. I made her a latte and told everyone not to ever let someone order that monstrosity again 😂
tbb10 2 points 1y ago
Yeah… you can’t use the shaker without ice. 😂 learned that the hard way. There was a mess everywhere haha
kxnkycxrly 4 points 1y ago
I make the drink into a grande and then I pour it into a venti and I’m like ???? What did you expect??
graylikesoap 3 points 1y ago
so they can bitch at you when the cup’s not full😃
w0lvesteeth 2 points 1y ago
Customers know EXACTLY how making drinks works 🤪
The_tired_barista 2 points 1y ago
Extra foam or milk?
210Church 1 points 1y ago
You don’t fill it to the top. Leave a shit ton of room
pezookazoo 1 points 1y ago
that crap is so annoying, i understand you save like 10 cents or whatever but it’s annoying
Madclaire022 1 points 1y ago
If that order came through, it was getting cold brew to the top line and vsccf to the ridge right above. Because they didn't put extra vsccf. Or no room.
Beverice2 2 points 1y ago
Yikes
Necessary_Low939 1 points 1y ago
