What's the best way to tell my manager that I won't be able to work from x to y? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sneakyminder123
My manager is a nice woman but very firm on things so she is a good manager I suppose. In April I won't be able to work for 2 weeks. Do I bother telling my manager now or is it too early? And should I request time off in the schedule website? I'm afraid of it getting denied because I won't be going to work regardless during that period.

i would start w requesting the time off in the app and then mentioning it to her (my manager needs reminders sometimes) and if you feel like it you can maybe explain why. it’s a few months away and the sooner the better :)

you need to request it in the partner hours app thing. it’s never too early to request. 22 days before is when you can no longer request time off

Apologies, I'm fairly new to the job do I dont know much about scheduling time off. What do I do if my request gets denied? Do I just no show? I dont want to let my co workers down so I want to make sure I don't get put on schedule

idk just submit ur thing and see what happens. i requested a week off in november and got accepted. i’ve also requested a week off in summer and a weekend off in april. and they’ve all been accepted. u should be good.

personally i would offer to help find my own coverage in the very unlikely scenario that the request gets denied. i don’t think you’ll be denied the time off, especially requesting so far in advance, but that’s what i would do in the worst case scenario

considering you’re requesting a few months in advance, i don’t think you can go wrong in that she’ll schedule you those days. but the sooner you tell her, the better and do give her updates just to remind her every once in a while

For that amount of time I would talk directly to your sm and give them a heads up and explain you won’t be able to. (Not sure how much time off requires a LOA) but you also need to put in for it in my partner hours which you can login to on the app, your personal browser, or within the partner hub on the store computer.
