Today was my last shift! (self.starbucksbaristas)

Just a celebratory post! I'm happy to just be a customer for now (I'll definitely stay and lurk tho).

Maybe one day I'll return to Starbucks but probably won't return to the store that I was at (even though it was literally 3 minutes from my house).

For the baristas who want to quit, I hope that you can get out when you can. For the baristas who love Starbucks, I'm super happy for you!

How did you decide it was time to quit because I’ve been thinking about it but at the same time I’m worried about the impact it will have on my store since I hold everyone together

I’m not OP but I quit in September. Please don’t feel like you have to stay for any reason. You are 1000% more important than this job!

I actually managed to find another job! It's technically a temporary job (until the end of the summer) but it's in my field (I'm a grad student) and it'll look much better on my resume than Starbucks.

I don't really hold anyone together at my store so I kinda lucked out not having that issue (my heart goes out to you for having said issue - rough choice to make). However I did promise them that I'd come and occasionally visit (I'll probably show up once or twice a month to get a cold brew or nitro).

I guess for me, it made sense to leave since I'll be getting a 4 dollar raise and I'll have until the end of summer to line up another job. And, with this new position on my resume, it'll probably be easier for me to find something in my field.

Also since I left on good terms, there's always a possibility of me getting hired back by Starbucks. My manager understood my reason for leaving so she marked me as "re-hirable".
