On Saturday a 12 or so year old girl tried to order one and I had to tell her the tik tok was posted as a joke.

Had to explain to a mom and her like 4 sons that were all 12 & under that it was a joke posted on TikTok and it’s made with Gatorade and gummy worms and we don’t sell either of those 🥴 the kids looked so embarrassed 😭

I had someone ask for the “new drink with candy” I though it was the pistachio, the brown butter went through my mind as candy. They paid got their drinks and left, came back around and started yelling at me because it wasn’t right. I asked what it was supposed to be and they said “I say a blue drink on tiktok” I leaned out the windows and said “that’s drinks not real, it’s essentially bleach in a cup” and he was like no a barista made it. Babe… no

I have stopped explaining Tiktok drinks and instead began letting customers know that I will happily make their drink and make it look as close to the video they saw. After I share that, I let them know that because it isn't a standard recipe I need them to show me exactly what ingredients are used. The under the sea drink recipe shared with me has never had ingredients shown, it just says "your barista will know what to do".


Starbucks is incredibly different from other foodservice businesses because customers can create their own recipes. It can be fun to riff off and play around with recipes but I do not have the capacity to keep up with the Tiktok nonsense shared by bored individuals.

Omg, the other day this girl mentioned a bunch of fake blue-themed drinks and I was like ??? Then finally she asked, “which blue drinks do you have?” 🙃

I swear people really be following tiktok trends without realize the consequences (or utter idiocy) of their actions.

Like seriously, take a minute to search up "deep sea refresher" It's obviously not an actual drink and im not in the mood to poison anybody other than myself when peak rolls along

Edit: I just had someone order this earlier today with zero irony. Sadly I wasn't in the best of moods and told him straight up that "it's not an actual drink. Whatever drink you saw on Facebook or tiktok, does not exist. Unless you have the recipe for me." While of course he replies with "Other baristas know how to make the drink" to which I just repeated what I said. I'm just so done with starbucks customers 🙃🙃🙃
