COVID Super Spreaders Getting on My Last Nerve (Grande Rant) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by matchawaffles
I work at a location in Texas, so already, you can imagine how many people wear a mask both in-store and in the drive-thru. I have been super lucky the past 2 years and haven't caught COVID yet (that I'm aware of), but working in a high traffic store where a majority of the customers don't wear masks makes me so fucking nervous. The amount of times a day I'm on DTO and I hear the dreaded "Can I get a medicine ball?" followed by the GROSSEST cough ever is insane. I hate working all the time and being exposed to COVID practically all hours. It's gotten to the point where I wear 3 masks when I'm on the floor. I really wish Starbucks would up their game and require masks in ALL locations because I am getting so fucking sick (no pun intended) of constantly fearing that the customer I just served is gonna give me COVID. Also, if you're sick, don't go through the DT with no mask and touching your face and shit? The number of times I've had the "By the way, I have COVID, I would wash your hands :)" is almost enough to make me quit. I hate Texas.

They are doing it because yall are continuing to work without a mandate.

What are we supposed to do? We depend on this job to pay bills and take care of ourselves. Starbucks has told us that we're not allowed to ask customers to wear a mask because it's "inconvenient" to them and refuse to enforce a mask mandate for the same reason. We don't have a lot of options really 🤷‍♀️

I am in the same boat as a teacher.
I am home on quarantine.
No masks in our district and 10-12 teachers absent daily + loads of students.

That's honestly terrible. I'm sorry

People are ignorant.

I'll probably get downvoted for this, but I don't understand the problem being maskless in DT. There's plenty of ventilation (air curtain and being outdoors) and not to mention they're usually there for a short time. Trust and listen to the science. If they're indoors and sick, that's a much different story.

My problem is the people who are coughing in my face while rubbing their nose with the hand they use to pass me their payment. It's just gross

Yeah I agree it’s your car plus the drive thru is the options for those who don’t want to or medically can’t wear masks
