It probably has more to do with the staffing situation at your store than anything else. You have completed your training I assume, yes? Are you a minor? Easiest solution is to talk to your SM about hours. Schedules are done 3 weeks out so that how long you'd have to wait unless you can pick up other baristas shifts.

I have, I just completely my training last week and my last shift was my first outside of training. I am 17, so that might be contributing—but I am a highschool graduate so my age won’t affect my hours. I’ll just check with my SM, thanks!

im 17 too and graduated last year, but still i believe the policy is that if you're under 18 you can only work 4-5 hours per day on week days (or something along those lines) but yeah still check in with your store manager

Part of it is we’re in the slower season, which is usually when hours get cut.
