I don’t know if other stores… (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I don’t know if other stores have this running joke but at mine it’s “Starbucks hires the gay and the mentally unwell”.

OH YES. Yes. Yes.

the store i work at is full of queers and mentally unstable people. i have barista friends at other locations where i live and even their starbucks is queer filled.

sbux attracts the gays both as customers and partners

It’s amazing no matter where you go, you know there’s at least one safe space.
I used to go there before I came out and used to get my preferred name on my cup and it gave me so much serotonin.

no honestly!! before i got a job at sbux no one respected my pronouns at my old job. now everyone sees my pin and respects it (even some customers which i love). i remember one time i went into starbucks (my current location acc) and the barista saw me coming in (gay as hell) (i live in a redneck state so to see a queer irl happens once in a lifetime (unless you work at sbux)). anyways, this dude gave me queer privilege and i just need the kids to know, “sometimes it pays to be gay” — Oscar Martinez (The Office)

he gave me my drink free (bc he thought the pic of it looked cool), added extra caramel crunch topping for free, and was too hyped overall which honestly, was needed (i promise you this wouldn’t have happened otherwise if i didn’t look gay af). anyways, fast forward a few months… this barista is gone BUT i work there now so…. sbux attracts the gays. i don’t make the rules

oh and my eye bags due to mental illness? drops to the floor

Omg that’s amazing.
I legit applied to Starbucks bc I worked at Publix (super homophobic) and needed to get away from the toxic ass people who misgendered me on purpose and I knew Starbucks was a safe place that would pay for me to get my tittes chopped off. I live in like a hillbilly ass town and the only time I see my fellow queer folk is at work or at target.

Had a manager slip before he knew I was bi that he was getting told to hire more queer folk because they think they're better with customers. I wish this was a joke.

omg mine too😭 two of my favorite coworkers went to the same mental hospital in the same month
dont-call-me_shirley 4 points 1y ago
I've had customers randomly spout queerphobic nonsense and I'm like sir 80% of baristas are queer enough to make you throw up. Also 100% of baristas are mentally unwell.

I think I’m the one of the few straight, Christian partners from any of the stores I’ve worked at so far 🤣. My coworkers and I got lots of love for each other tho (no homo HAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHA ok sorry.)

yeah our entire store is either middle aged people that have been there forever (and half of them are ND anyways) or queer folks in their 20s with adhd, personality/mood disorders, and anxiety (i belong to the queer ND folks in their 20s part of that haha)

My bestie and I always say Starbucks thrives off the tears of the trans and gays
