I need to know, because there are sooo many conflicting “opinions” on the answer and every time I, my bff, and probably several other people order it, I have to correct it, and sometimes people argue about it. I want to make sure I’m not spreading false info.
I order a venti SCVCB with *one* extra pump of vanilla, which *should* put it at four. I don’t know how or why, but sometimes when people put it into the system, it makes it 7 pumps, which I find ridiculously sweet.
Is it supposed to be 4? 7? How can I explain to someone if they input it wrong (because I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be 4)? How are they inputting it wrong??

it’s supposed to be 4. usually someone more new will be put on drive thru order and they don’t know the specific recipes for some drinks. so a standard iced venti gets six so they assume a venti vsccb with an extra pump gets seven. that’s probably what is happening. i would just specify you want 4 pumps of vanilla

The standard recipe shows up on the right hand side of the drink builder menu, under "syrups" it will show the standard number of pumps that it comes with.

not everyone looks at it or even knows it’s there, i didn’t realize it until like 3 months after i was hired

Just say you want 4 pumps. Cold brews are an outlier for pumps, normal iced drinks are T/G/V/Tr 3/4/6/7 pumps, but specialty cold brews are 1/2/3/4 full pumps. some partners don’t know this though, so clarifying that you want 4 pumps may be helpful

It's supposed to be 6 cold bar pumps or 3 hot bar pumps. There should be a vanilla bottle on cold bar with a cold bar pump, but there usually isn't, and a lot of baristas don't care enough to think about which pump it is (short with square nozzle or long with drop-shaped nozzle).
So specify, say VSCCB with 4 hot bar pumps of vanilla.

So the vanilla for the sweet cream is supposed to be a cold bar pump which is half a normal pump. That’s why it will change it to 7 with one extra pump because it should be 7 cold bar pumps which would be 3 and 1/2 normal pumps. Now if I were making it for you I would give you 4 pumps most likely but that’s why the system shows 7 and if the barista doesn’t realize it is supposed to be cold bar pumps I can easily see why they would give you 7 normal pumps when just reading the sticker. Because almost nobody puts a vanilla on cold bar with the smaller pump and don’t realize that the system has it in for the standard with the CB pump.
I would just specify 4 pumps of vanilla to get what you want.
