fuck customers that say “i ordered two” in dt when they ordered one(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Lampinglamp
like do you know how much you hold up the line? or those who order a gr size and say “oh can i get it in a venti. sorryyyy” like fuck you and your holding up of our other orders. esp when we only have one espresso bar open so the barista is getting all the cafes, mobiles, and dt orders
double fuck you points if we’re having a rush

god i had a 5-drink mobile order come through today and they came to pick it up during peak and they come back and are like “we were supposed to get a tall nonfat latte with this but instead we got two grande regular layers :/“ LIKE GIRL THATS NOT MY FAULT PROOFREAD YOUR MF ORDER
she is part of the reason why I fell super behind 🥲
Lampinglamp [OP]16 points1y ago
today i had someone order caramel syrup in a latte and then was like, "no sorry i meant caramel sauce." fell behind for 3 hours because of him
edit: he didn't order just one. he had 3 of them.
BlackberryOpposite3127 points1y ago
Or when they get to the window and say “sorry I meant to ask for that to be made with almond milk” and you have to redo the whole drink.

Last week we were in the middle of a rush, meaning the DT was fairly packed, somehow a customer pulled up to the window and said she missed the box (how? How do you drive past it when you’re at a standstill). I actually tried to tell her sorry we couldn’t take her order at the window knowing how backed up we were and then we both looked at the line and I said what was the drink? She said just a small caramel frapp, so I went ahead and just said ok it’s fine. We were lucky enough to have a partner on cold bar who started it as soon as she heard, but understandably didn’t hear the customer say with almond milk. It was so frustrating, luckily that customer was incredibly nice and tipped, but I don’t understand what goes through customers minds when needing things that weren’t our mistake remade at the window
Lampinglamp [OP]10 points1y ago
literally! just come inside instead.
you have no idea how many remakes were done within rush hour. like today was super busy for us. every 1 in 4 customers had something wrong with their drink whether it be supposedly the wrong size, wrong ingredient, wrong number (i.e. they ordered 2 and not 1).. mind you, i can gaurantee like 99.999% of them are lying but man we were SWAMPED and only 4 people on the floor
BookDragon199613 points1y ago
That's why I charge them for the second and if I have to remake your drink because you forgot to mention an add on I'll take it to throw it away. Stop trying to get free shit man
HILife7029 points1y ago
Customers really think they’re sly when they pull that shit. I love the look on their face when I dump it right in front of them lol.
Lampinglamp [OP]3 points1y ago
THIS. I need this in my life
Expecto_nihilus5 points1y ago
Absolutely. No free drinks, ever. I’ll gladly remake anything “right” and not let them keep the “wrong” one.
No-Lawyer63110 points1y ago
There really should be a rule against order altercations at window
Lampinglamp [OP]4 points1y ago
for the love of god true!
today i had someone say she had an extra cake pop (that she never ordered) and i was like “i’m sorry. it says you didn’t order it” and she was like “no i did” i said “i can print out a receipt to show you. if you did want it, you can go through the dt again or come inside and we can get that for you” and she said “ugh never mind” and drove off
Necessary_Low9399 points1y ago
No I make them pay for it. No I don’t care if they throw a tantrum. No I don’t care if it holds up the line. No I will not make their drink again they need to get back in line.
Lampinglamp [OP]1 points1y ago
how do you manage to say that? like say you have one of those customers. what would the interaction be like word for word cause i swear i will start doing this but idk how the hell to politely say no
Necessary_Low9395 points1y ago
I look at the ticket and say u were charged for a small instead of a medium or medium instead of a large. So if u want a large u need to pay the difference. On this ticket u didn’t not indicate u want sweet cream cold foam or oatmilk. I alrdy made the regular milk and if u want me to make the cold foam it requires 28 of my muscles to make it. Thus I need to charge u. If u don’t pay for it u won’t get it. When they pull this shit I say u need to wait. I am making someone else’s drink. I usually make two to three before remaking theirs. That’s what I meant by back of the line, not have them line up again. As for drive thrus I guess I can’t comment. I work in a city, no drive thrus and honestly even if that’s the case I will make them go in a cafe to wait. It’s not always about making the moment right. U can’t keep doing this because customers do abuse it. Which led them to say so and so let them do this or this store did it for me (then go back to that store (the Fck?) etc. they need to be educated and not take advtage. They say we charge so much so we should be kissing their feet. Like no, if u think so then go to Dunkin! No one is stopping u. U are coming here because u choose to. I also make moments right if I know they’re not abusing it. U can tell. It also depends on ur sm and shift. They should be on baristas side half the time. If they see these cheap asses abusing the policy they need to do something.
Lampinglamp [OP]3 points1y ago
omg thank you for this. i will deffo be using this.
it’s just in dt you have times on how long each car has been waiting and you usually want to get them in and out in less than 1.5mins so…
Necessary_Low9392 points1y ago
Np. As for dt, I can’t help u. I haven’t work at dt to experience this but dt location seems a bitch to work at and most of the time they pull this shit. I read many horror stories of how customers get and it kinda makes me lose faith in humanity. Like why are you arguing about $1 to $2? If it bothers u, don’t come here? I’m not gonna lie, $1/2 bothers me when I order at dunkin… so I don’t get the extras and throw a tantrum after.

The worst is when they add the “oh I wanted it venti and iced but I’ll take it anyway” then INSIST on taking it the way it is GIRL Just take it and go then if you’re gonna argue with me on remaking it
Lampinglamp [OP]3 points1y ago
Ugh seriously what do these customers think they’re gonna get?? i mean, they do get what they want but i swear, we secretly hate them forever
CoffeeIslander7 points1y ago
Since my DT has a screen I ALWAYS ask them to confirm the order whether they chose to acknowledge me or not. And then when they pull something like that I say
"I confirmed the order on the screen."
Customer: "well I never confirmed it."
Me: "I can't help that you didn't want to confirm the order back then. But it's too late to do it now."

My little sadistic side comes out to play whenever I'm on DT and it has the time of its life 😏
Lampinglamp [OP]4 points1y ago
IM GOING TO START DOING THIS
Expecto_nihilus6 points1y ago
My favorite is the water cups.
Every time I get a request for water I want to be like “aw, I’m sorry, we’re actually all out of water cups.”
Don’t even get me on straws for strawless lid drinks. I get it on no whip fraps, but anything else? No, you don’t need a straw. Tip the fucking cup and sip. Think of the goddamn turtles!!!
And cold foam on drinks that SHOULD NOT have cold foam. I want to be able to tell a customer, ‘wait, what? Oh no. That’s gross. You absolutely cannot have that. This is what you really want.’
Enough_Raise_71672 points1y ago
We have a regular customer that comes by every morning to order a venti iced skinny vanilla latte and asks for a straw and SLEEVE. Every morning. There was a brief moment when we were out of straws and sleeves and I relished telling her we were all out 😁
Lampinglamp [OP]1 points1y ago
THIS. YES. EVERYTHING IN HERE. YES.
I also literally think of the turtles so i don't give out any straws unless they physically ask (or unless they're disabled and they physically need one). less than like 5 drinks at starbucks actually need straws.
i saw today someone who ordered coffee and had his own reuseable straw. like, please, aspire to be like him. come in with reuseable cups and/or straws. i promise you it's helping.
also, cold foam on any refreshers... if these people believe in god.. there is a special place in hell for those types of people.
even worse tho, people who had shots on non-coffee, non-frap drinks. like a shot in a mango dragonfruit refresher? come on dude.
persona-26 points1y ago
My world has been orders the vanilla sweet cream cold brew - no modifiers - just like that. And then gets super upset there is no foam on it.
Lampinglamp [OP]6 points1y ago
yes! people don’t understand that there’s a difference between cb with vsccf and vsc cb.
i had a lady today come up to the dt (i was on dtr) and when i handed her just a plain cold brew, she said “can i get a bit of cream?” and i said “sure” so i dumped a bit out, made room for cream, then went back to hand it to her. she said “this isn’t nitro!” and i said, “yeah. you didn’t order nitro” and she said “i thought it would be” expecting that i would remake it and i was like “yeah no. sorry about that. next time you’ll have to specify” and she drove off
