Three months in and miserable (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hi all,
I got hired before the holidays because I wanted to pursue schooling through the partner program with ASU. I thought I could keep up with the workflow, but it’s just too hectic. A few toxic partners and a shift supervisor who constantly snaps/talks over me and the super early mornings mixed with my insomnia are really not a good fit for me, to the point of where in my mind, the free schooling isn’t even worth it anymore.

I’m currently interviewing at some other places, but I’m terrified about quitting. I feel awful that I couldn’t hack it at Starbucks and I don’t want my partners and SM to be pissed at me for leaving. I’m less looking forward to giving my two weeks and having to tell every partner I work with that I’m leaving because I get too stressed out. I’m a people-pleaser by nature and I just hate the idea of being judged for not sticking with it.

If I do get another job, do you have any tips on making my leaving as smooth and not awkward as possible? Thank you 😔

before you quit i would suggest transferring to a different store. i love my job and all my coworkers so maybe it's just your environment. also opening shifts are hard. maybe you could work mid shifts?

I would heavily recommend transferring stores, you don’t necessarily have to follow the “6 month” transfer rule because you have a genuine reason. I would connect to your SM and if thats someone you don’t feel comfortable speaking to I would recommend talking to your DM

No one should be talking over anyone… transfer out. There are better stores u just need to find out. I suggest sitting at one for a few hrs to see the flow of the store before opting to go there
