i’m also in college and had an internship last summer and i ended up working at both the internship and starbucks. i only worked like 20 hours at each so it was busy during the week, but i really only had one shift on the weekends. you could do this if that sounds interesting to you, but ofc it’s a lot. but you could always work out something with your manager like working once a week. then you would be able to keep ur benefit without leaving and being rehired again

Yeah I will try to talk with my manager about this

this or take an unpaid LOA. we had a partner do that bc she had to go back home for winter break & it wasn’t an issue

Will a unpaid loa still allow me to keep my benefits?

it depends on the type but i think some of them, yes. this link is for the 21-22 benefits handbook. look at the types of LOA to see which would fit your situation best and then talk to your manager $1

I’m a few hours late but at my store, this can absolutely be done! We have a few college kids (including me) at my store who need to take breaks/stop working a couple times a year and when they’re ready to come back, they just hop back in like they never left.

I’m personally doing an internship this summer and all I did was talk to my manager about it, and we agreed on cutting back my hours to make time. I would just talk to your manager and I’m sure some sort of agreement can be made :)

I did this for the last 3 years! It was great and I know my store appreciated my commitment
