Working at Starbucks? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Alpha001AAA
Hi!

Hope you're all doing well! I wanted to ask you all some questions about working at Starbucks as I'm considering starting my 2nd job at Starbucks! I currently work at McDonald's and I've always been interested in working at Starbucks!

Questions maybe you could help me answer! :)

* What are your day-to-day tasks? Would they be similar to the tasks at McDonald's?
* What is the work environment like?
* From your experience, how is working at Starbucks? Do you like your job?
* Are there any opportunities for advancement?
* How is the flexibility in terms of shift schedules? Can I book off days?

Honestly, any info, opinions, statements, etc helps! I would appreciate anything! Thanks in advance!!

1. literally just general cleaning. we have a play book that has daily / weekly tasks.

2. very different at evert store and district, but you can probably bank on it being fast paced and a younger demographic for coworkers.

3. yea and no. its a job so you’ll always have ups and downs but the good thing is we specialize in coffee so there isnt a lot to learn. every recipe is basically the same with different flavors.

4. yes if you have open availability and are a hard worker (18+ for legality)

5. also depends on the store and staffing. i approve 97% of all my employees time off requests but we have a 14 days window for a cut off because we normally make schedules two weeks out (:

let me know if you have anymore questions!!

the environment varies from store to store, i’ve heard basically horror stories from this subreddit but my store experience has been fantastic

you can go from barista to shift and up from there if you play the long game
you have to be good at planning your off days, at my store the schedule is made three weeks in advance so you better know and request off but you can definitely have off days.

the benefits are a big draw but if you are working at both places i’m not sure if you’ll get enough hours at sb to be eligible.
free food and drink is really nice though
