Is this going to get denied (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by overturned23
I am a single parent. I originally had my availability start any time after 8 am. But now I’m realizing I just can’t work until 9:30pm-10pm. It’s not good for my kids and I need to be home. I told my manager to be light on the closing shifts (we have plenty of closers) but that i’ll close if nobody else will. She continued to give me 3-4 closing shifts a week, so I decided that I’m going to change my availability. I want to know if you guys think it will get accepted or denied.

Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday
8am-7pm

Wednesday
10:30am-7pm

Saturday
5am-1:30pm

No sundays

Right now the request just says pending but i’m nervous

Update: he accepted it

it really just depends on store needs, but as an sm if i had plenty of closers and you changed to this i wouldn’t be mad. also managers need to realize that starbucks doesn’t come before life.

Changing your availability is introducing new agreement terms to the application YOU submitted, you have every right to change your availability.

It will take 21 days to change if accepted. Worse case scenario if it’s denied you can transfer.

For reference, I changed my work scheduled 3 days a week for 6 hours a day and my schedule was accepted

as long as it’s 3 days a week they accept it and have to follow it. it’s your availability

Your manager should be able to work with that availability. Im a single parent too so I totally understand and your kids needs come before other peoples coffee any day. Good luck!

Just talk to your manager- especially if you’ve got a good one. I had to change my availability due to my kids and my manager was super helpful and we worked together to find what would work best. I went from being an opener to a closer, so it was a big change but it worked out.
