What do you guys think about these? They are laminated and apron pocket sized for any green beans that I train. I just got promoted to barista trainer!
5962596298 points1y ago
Don't venti hot Americano get 4 shots🧐
jazzysoranio37 points1y ago
Yeah, americanos get 1,2,3,4.
riddlvr24 points1y ago
I made those wrong for over two years

I love the design, but the recipes NEED to be correct! Americanos don't get one extra shot, they get 1/2/3/4 shots (hot or iced, but iced happens to work out as an extra shot anyway). Flat Whites DO get one extra shot, but they are ristretto shots. Also, the Iced Shaken Espresso is half-pumps of syrup, which is important to note.
rlblakey1715 points1y ago
Are you able to tape these to the ticket printers? I feel like having it eye level might be helpful if someone needs to glance at it. Love that they're laminated!
emmsshamieh10 points1y ago
Thank you! Unfortunately our printers are not eye level they are a little lower then waist level but I could ask my manager about other spots.
AdIll79469 points1y ago
If you have Mastraena 2s you can put them up on the bean holders. Good spot for eye level
Dzfranken1 points1y ago
It's good for study but not for constant use otherwise people will never try to remember
haydensidun13 points1y ago
Congrats on your promotion!
I made a binder full of activity guides and skill checks and QRGs and all that stuff. I call it the Binder of Greatness and it’s pretty fucking great. I made it for fun but it surprised me how much I use it when I’m training people, and it just goes to show that the more prepared a trainer is, the easier training is for both the trainer and the trainee (and management, probably).
These cards are amazing and it really shows your dedication to this role. Not only do a lot of stores not have trainers, but from what I’ve seen, most of the ones that do have very unprepared trainers. I always love seeing a prepared trainer and it makes me super happy that you’re taking this seriously.
Best of luck! Training green beans is super fun and I know you’ll do an amazing job :)
[deleted] [OP]2 points1y ago
Omg!! That is so awesome of you. I normally write the measurements on the espresso machine/give them quizlets to study but this is a level up. I definitely want to make my own binder now, if you want to share some of the greatness with me like how you structured it so I can get an idea, I would appreciate it so much, this is my next project lol.
haydensidun3 points1y ago
Yes! I went on the partner hub and printed out the barista basics training plan, all activity guides, all skill checks, both discussion guides, and relevant quick reference guides (teaching model, dishwashing, handwashing, etc.).
I also typed some notes for myself, things I thought the activity guides missed and other stuff kinda tailored for my store, as well as some other tools I use. Everything I didn’t get off the partner hub I typed up in Google Docs, so I’d be happy to email them to you if you’d like.
From there I organized everything and put in some binder tabs, then I created a table of contents and put some binder paper in the back for my own notes (it helps!). I believe I used a 1.5 inch binder for it but a 2 inch binder would be fine too.
Always glad to spread some greatness. Happy training!
Kaestorm2 points1y ago
Hi there! Would definitely be interesting in that Google link if you don’t mind sharing. I’ve been a barista trainer for a while but I want to reamp my approach! Thank you for putting all that info together, I’m sure your team really appreciates it
[deleted] [OP]2 points1y ago
Private messaged you!!
whittyd634 points1y ago
These are great! What about ristretto shots for flat white?
Noobplzforgive41 points1y ago
Hi, I just got hired like a month ago and I now im on the floor. My training went relatively easy because I had my boyfriend tutor me on stuff since he's a barista trainer. I think it'd be good to include like exclusive rule drinks too cus those aren't trained well in my experience.
I think we can add to the americano gets an extra shot (or just 1234 for that one) to include flat whites and shaken espressos. Also mention the whole milk and ristretto for flat whites.
Other things that my store didn't really go over well or didn't hammer enough were
espresso frap shot counts ~~123~~ 111
Matcha powder count 234 always
Chai tea latte(hot): half water half steamed milk
Misto: half pike half steamed milk
Recipes of different foams
List of the three layered fraps: mocha cookie, caramel crunch, chocolate cookie crm
Cold brew 123
list of drinks that get classic syrups by default (matcha crm and strawberry crm frap, normal shaken espresso, ice coffee and so forth)
Idk, it's just a suggestion, studying these ahead of time really helped me when training to get on the floor.
Calsan118 points1y ago
Espresso fraps actually get 1 espresso shot no matter the size, plus the standard frap roast pumps.
Noobplzforgive5 points1y ago
I just confronted my boyfriend saying that the online menu page says it's 111. He says well if that's what the menu page says, what he was taught must be wrong (or maybe they changed it?) Lol I should edit my notes
ashryver631 points1y ago
What about decaf fraps?
interyx3 points1y ago
Decaf frappuccinos get 1/2/3 decaf shots to replace the frappuccino roast.
A decaf espresso frappuccino would get an additional decaf shot.
fox-andhound1 points1y ago
One decaf shot.
Substantial_Walk_9257 points1y ago
Hi! FYI no matter the size of espresso frap they all only get a single shot. The only thing that changed based on size is frap roast pumps
Noobplzforgive1 points1y ago
That's good to know, I wonder what else would be helpful to put on here for new beans like me. Another huge section that the stores don't really go over are TEAS. There isn't any modules for it I dont think. I just finished my modules and I didn't really learn anything about teas.
Substantial_Walk_925-8 points1y ago
Hot teas all get two tea bags no matter the size. Honey citrus mint tea gets 1 peach tranquility and 1 jade citrus mint tea. By default unsweetened -tea lattes (royal English breakfast tea latte, etc.) sweetened and 2% milk All iced teas are poured into the shaker cup and halved with water and by default unsweetened.
StarbuckLuLu9 points1y ago
ALL hot teas do not get 2 tea bags. Short and tall - 1 tea bag. Grande and Venti - 2 tea bags

Noobplzforgive1 points1y ago
Are the pump counts 122?
m3a9an4 points1y ago
One of our store trainers does Cosmo (Matcha) and Wanda (strawberry crm) Frappuccino’s get classic syrup ! It helps everyone relate it to something most people can remember!
emmsshamieh7 points1y ago
Thank you for the advice! I will update the cards with the correct information on things such as Americanos and flat whites before they are given to any green beans!
barista-baby7 points1y ago
do flat whites get an extra shot? i’ve been doing one extra shot in all americanos because that’s how i was taught but now i’m gonna start doing 1,2,3,4 and 2,3,4,5 for hot and iced
OneRoseDark12 points1y ago
flat whites are 1 extra ristretto shot. americanos are always 1/2/3/4 for short/tall/grande/venti so iced americanos are 2/3/4/no for tall/grande/venti/trenta because we don't sell trenta espresso drinks.
barista-baby3 points1y ago
oops, automatically included trenta because i’m stupid lol, but this makes a lot more sense, thank you!!
haydensidun0 points1y ago
The inclusion of trenta is still good because you’re also demonstrating how many pumps of syrup each size gets
AdIll79467 points1y ago
Flat Whites are weird. They get 2 Ristretto in a tall, 3 in a grande, 3 in a hot venti, and 4 in an iced venti. I’m not confident about short!
goddessofwaterpolo4 points1y ago
Short flat whites also get 2 shots. It’s 2/2/3/4.
AdIll79462 points1y ago
Thank u for confirming lol, that’s what i thought. 2/2/3/3…. 4 for iced venti’s only tho.
goddessofwaterpolo4 points1y ago
You’re right, I just checked the app. 3 shots for a venti hot. I’ve been making them with 4 for a couple months, lol. I really had to figure a lot of stuff out on the fly, it’s hard when the amounts of things vary from drink to drink this way.
interyx2 points1y ago
Yeah it's just an extra shot. 1/1/2/2 for hot becomes 2/2/3/3, then iced ventis usually get an extra shot anyway (3) so with another one it becomes 4.
AdIll79461 points1y ago
Omg. So Americanos are the weird ones. Never even looked at it like that LOL.
interyx2 points1y ago
It's venti hot Americanos that break the pattern, yeah. Hot and iced both get 4 shots.
carcinophile1 points1y ago
The largest amount of shots you will ever pull for a standard build drink is 4. This helped me a lot when I was unsure.
goddessofwaterpolo-2 points1y ago
Flat white shots are 2/2/3/4 Americanos Iced or Hot are 1/2/3/4. A venti iced americano is still 4 shots.
jazzysoranio4 points1y ago
Unless it changed recently dry inclusions for frappuccinos are actually one less scoop than pumps. But then again, Starbucks does change things a lot so maybe it’s not that way anymore.
Americanos don’t actually get one extra shot, they’re just 1,2,3,4.
But I really like the designs. They look good.
^^^ just realized I was thinking about hot bar drinks when I wrote this. Lol. Ignore the whole comment above. 😂
StarbuckLuLu4 points1y ago
Dry inclusions for Frappuccinos are the same as pumps. 2-3-4
jazzysoranio1 points1y ago
Did that change?
interyx3 points1y ago
Nope it's been like that since I started ~7 years ago. We used to have the stickers on every station, it's always the same number of scoops and pumps of base. Cold bar syrup pumps are 2/3/4 but hot bar pumps are 1/2/2.
jazzysoranio1 points1y ago
Oh, duh, I just realized I was thinking of dry inclusions in hot bar drinks 😂. Yeah you’re right, the scoops and pumps for frappuccinos are the same. But scoops of dry inclusions in a hot bar drink is actually one less than the number of pumps of syrup.
Necessary_Low9394 points1y ago
I wrote on cups and took a pic
kittzelmimi3 points1y ago
Americanos get 1/2/3/4 shots.
*Flat Whites* get an extra shot (and ristretto).
1PinkPanda2 points1y ago
Although this isn’t right completely, I really wish the trainers at my job did this, I had to make my own, and to laminate I just used clear packing tape 😅😅😅
TheActualFridge2 points1y ago
we've got little cards posted all over just like that!!
Carsatan1 points1y ago
I did these when I started, no shame and I made extras
Drove through another store the other day and saw one of my cards taped to the espresso machine LMAO
Longjumping-Rest-1121 points1y ago
Don’t forget flat whites get an extra shot too! I wish we had these when i got trained last year.🥰

Dzfranken1 points1y ago
Blonde bevs get one less pump of syrup
interyx4 points1y ago
Not anymore, they actually standardized it to equal pumps for blonde and signature.
deepfriedmonkeytail1 points1y ago
Fun Fuct: In Italy Tall and Grande both get 2 shots of espresso.
myredditusername9191 points1y ago
what about flat whites??
nicolelynnejones1 points1y ago
When did venti shaken espressos/ Starbucks doubleshots stop getting 5 shots?
StarbuckLuLu1 points1y ago
When the stopped calling them Doubleshot over ice and started calling them Shaken Espresso
lechatsombre1 points1y ago
When they changed the name and came out with the brown sugar shaken espresso they cut the shots down too.
nicolelynnejones1 points1y ago
Bummer 😔
Bris501 points1y ago
To be honest they have so many different variations I just wing it most of the time. I just think to myself does this seem right? Never had a complaint yet😄
Big-Entrepreneur90861 points1y ago
new to working and just curious I thought frappes always get whipped cream automatically? or do you usually just ask them if they want it?
emmsshamieh3 points1y ago
All fraps apart from coffee and espresso fraps automatically get whipped cream 😊
IfuDidntCome2Party1 points1y ago
Now-- I know why they always ask me if I want whip. I thought it was some connection question to pass time.😅
AliCandyBar-3 points1y ago
I thought tall drinks got 2 pumps, hot or iced? 1-2-4-5 H, 2-4-6 C?
venusbarista2 points1y ago
No. 2 short,3 tall hot or iced,4 grande hot or iced ,5 venti hot and 6 for venti iced
AliCandyBar-4 points1y ago
That’s odd, all the training cards and labels on my machines at work say differently.
ofCourseZu-ar-1 points1y ago
I've been with the company for almost 6 years now.
DID YOU KNOW: If you add syrup to a coffee or espresso frappucino, you also automatically add whip!? I was surprised to find that out.
Artistic_Sock29101 points1y ago
Yes that is because the reason they don't have whip is because they don't have added syrups, not because they are coffee based. Every other coffee based frap gets whip, so it follows like that
