Will my cut hours affect my SCAP eligibility? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by TJW351
Does anyone know if I have to maintain a certain number of hours for Starbucks to pay for ASU? Just worrying myself to death that my super reduced hours will also lead to my college stuff falling though too.

You have to average 20 hours a week over 6 months. There are benefits audits every January 6 or July 6; you have to earn 520 hours between each audit to keep benefits. Sick and vacation hours also count toward that total.

They’ve lowered the hours you need from 520 to 450 in all the audits since summer 2020, but we don’t know if they’ll lower it again this July

I’m in a similar boat! And my bf just got a text regarding his transfer saying the SM can’t take him anymore

Here’s what I recommend focusing on:
- just try to maintain that 20 a week above all else
- picking up shifts is harder than working with your friends who don’t wanna work as much, use that to your advantage
- see if people are willing to switch shifts in the same day or want to leave early and you can pick up what’s left of their shift
- talk to your ssv frequently about if anyone is out on isolation, if there are opportunities coming up where coverage is needed
- make sure you know your sbuxben login info so you can check how many hours you have and then can see how many weeks you have left and can average out. For example if I’ve been able to get 30 hours a week since this audit began (Jan 6) than my average per week may be more like 15 hrs a week now which takes off a bit of stress.
- feel free to call other stores! I know it’s anxiety inducing but if you just follow this script it’s not too bad “hey I’m ___ im a partner at *this store* and I’m calling to see if you guys have any shifts I could pick up?”

I’m also at ASU and it’s really hard to stay motivated when Starbucks tries to kill us, stay strong! And if you’re in the program rn than happy spring break!!!

Hey, thank you so much for this answer! I am currently enrolled, so happy spring break to you too! I’ll have to start using your method I guess. I used to average 30+ and lately it’s been 10+.

I asked my DM today and she danced around the question and said “hours will go back up in a month you’ll be fine” like yeah no, I won’t cause I’ll have to work overtime to achieve that
TJW351 [OP] 2 points 1y ago
Exactly and overtime is impossible at my store

I’m considering returning to sbux for the asu program. Is it one full year employment for benefits or has the SAP changed after covid job shortage?
TJW351 [OP] 2 points 1y ago
Google says 240 hours over the first consecutive three months
sq314 2 points 1y ago
Thank you for the quick response! I’m a returning sbux partner, so they changed the sap benefits due to covid job shortage.

No problem! Welcome back, and hope your school stuff goes well!
