i’ll be making six months this week. i had a horrible day today at window because of the amount of angry customers. bc of the new launch, our prices have raised dramatically. i worked window today and i cannot emphasize how many people complained about prices. i have no idea how to reply to these comments and i feel so awkward just being there like “oh 🧍”. any advice?

Yeah every launch it seems like they raise the prices. They're is nothing you can really say except maybe what I just mentioned. "Sorry about that. Corporate typically raises around the launch of a new season" The most "aggressive" you can be would be something like " I don't make the prices"

I say “I promise you I didn’t get a raise.”

I said this a few times today. Apologized to my regulars who balked, didn’t take shit from others who were mad. I don’t think the prices are fair either. But it’s not a barista’s fault.

I always mention that they are welcome to contact corporate and complain, but I can’t help them.

tell them they are raising prices and lower labor so we have to do more, with less people, so the customer can pay more for terrible experiences.

rung up a panini today and it was almost 8 dollars… and they aren’t raising our wages until summer, and when they do, they’re only raising them to $15/hour

Honestly I can’t even deal with people complaining about Starbucks’s prices. IMO Starbucks is a luxury not a necessity and if they don’t like the inflated coffee prices make the drink at home. People don’t want that though they need the brand. I haven’t bought Starbucks since I became an employee (almost 6 months) and even before I became an employee I got Starbucks rarely on special occasions. I save Starbucks for my shift. Let people be angry if you want to get people on your side say something along the lines of “no kidding it cost 30 bucks to fill up my car today” be relatable the prices are going up everywhere and people just want to complain

The main reason I go to sbux(and why i worked there) was because I liked the consistency, almost always what you get is going to taste how it does, and they're usually open the latest of the nearby coffee places and I'm a night person haha
Dutch bros and black rock are open later, but I have trust issues at black rock for anything other than black coffee or americano after getting a curdled sour breve 🤢 Dutch bros is fine(maybe not ethically though) but their stuff just is a bit on the weaker side taste wise. Idk being autistic if something tastes "off" then I expect it to then I'm gonna shy away from it usually and starbucks is usually solid.
I also love the ham&swiss paninins but for so much money I could probably make 3 at home to make up for that price by buying the ingredients at a store. Just a reliable on the go food for my picky body lol

I always like to defuse the situation by agreeing through them with a joke. Typically they’ll go “oh. It used to be <insert old total here>” and I just respond with “yeah, unfortunately we just had a price raise because StArBuCkS fElT tHeY wErEnT eXpEnSiVe EnOuGh /s” or something similar to that. It normally gets a small chuckle out of them, and in turn helps the customer know that you had no say in the price change, and that you think it’s ridiculous as well.

Well ya see, there was ONLY a 13% profit increase this last year, which was unexpectedly high. So ya know... fuck you for being a loyal customer.

Depending on their attitude, I'll either sympathize with them or shrug and say "I don't control the prices"

Yea ): today someone ordered a white mocha with peppermint and its 7.43!! She comes up to the window and was like Uhhhh I only pay 6$ everyday so why is it that price today!? I just explain it’s going to be a separate charge starting today since our launch happened all of our winter drinks are gone . It’s not my fault 🤧I just work here
