How is this allowed? (self.starbucksbaristas)

My spouse took a hiatus from employment at bucks but went back after a couple folks quit, the pandemic has “calmed down” and so on.

Well their first paycheck was supposed to be direct deposit, never got it okay that’s fine. Well apparently Starbucks no longer overnights paper checks to the stores like they used to?

So now I guess they mail them old fashioned mail, which is not so great because it’s now Wednesday and my spouse still hasn’t received their check via regular mail and Starbucks corporate is like, ‘well there is no tracking so it gets there when it gets there!’

How is this even legal??? My spouse won’t have their paper check until a full six days after payday if it arrives tomorrow…

Theoretically this will be the only time this is an issue but what the actual fuck. What about unbanked people?!?

Have her call PRSC. At least in my area, partners who don't receive a direct deposit are issued a "bank card" with their paycheck on it (and it gets "reloaded" each payday) and I've never seen it be delayed; it arrives in-store on payday

Oh that’s a good idea. Theoretically it shouldn’t be an issue for us after this one comes in but who even knows tbh.

I just couldn’t believe this is the standard for partners who don’t do direct deposit for whatever reason.

Sorry to reply like 4 months later, but did you have any luck with the check arriving on time? I’m in the same boat currently and it’s very not fun, and no one seems to have any answers!
