Resources to learn register? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PastaWithJamSauce
I wasn’t trained on things like

- how to do refunds

-how to pay one order with different payment methods

-how to reload a card

just need to learn all of the things on register besides ringing people up and checking them out.

refunds- i’ve been advised to call manager
Different payments- depending on the method - gift card, then cash or CC.
For reload, hit the misc tab (far tab on left) and it’s an option of three wide buttons. You can also reload at time of payment if balance is due.

Easiest way I have found for refunds is going into “Refund mode” it’s under the functions button where I’m at. It turns the border of your screen yellow and you just type in what they got like they are ordering it again. It’ll then ask how they paid before and then what form they want it back.

when reloading cards i suggest saving the order and doing the reload in a separate transaction! it’ll help avoid confusion and ensure that the customer earns stars for the order afterwards

(i believe the reloading button is under miscellaneous aka MISC. at the top of the screen)

also there are two common scenarios when customers use multiple forms of payment:
1) they have multiple starbucks cards to scan
2) they want to pay with two different forms of payment (like cash and credit card OR multiple credit cards)

in scenario 1, all you have to do is scan each card and click the starbucks card button (the one that blinks at the bottom right corner of the computer screen every time you scan a SBUX card) after scanning each one until you are prompted to print out the receipt. if they used physical cards i usually like to give them a receipt so they can see how much is left on the last card scanned!

in scenario 2, let’s say they want to pay with two different credit cards and their total is $12. they want you to charge $5 on card A and then $7 on card B. on your screen there should be a keypad that you probably mostly use to type in cash amounts. you would type in $5.00 then click credit/debit and scan card A. after that, the remaining total should go down to $7.00 on your screen so you don’t have to type it in like you did for the first card. just click credit/debit once again and scan card B! the same methods would be used if they wanted to play with cash and card! that’s all there is to it
