Hey! I'm a stay at home gf and I'm kind of bored and want some extra spending $$. The Starbucks across the street is hiring and I'm considering applying, but I just want to know if it's worth it & what my chances are. I grew up Mormon so I don't know much about coffee (the closest I've done to making my own is when I buy the iced coffee drinks from Target) and I'd love to learn more, but is this a good way to do that? I've worked a lot of customer service/retail/cafe jobs before, so I'm not too worried about shitty customers or anything.
I'd love to hear y'all's input!

I think you should go for it! It’s a simple an easy job (most days) but it’s a great place to meet new people and you’ll learn tons of stuff on coffee! Also there’s tons of great benefits (my fave is the free Spotify haha) I say if you make yourself presentable you’ll more than likely get the job :) good luck!

It’s definitely a great choice, you should definitely apply

i definitely think you should! it’s genuinely been an enjoyable experience for me. if you do decide to apply, make sure to portray yourself as a very friendly, considerate, flexible type of person! someone who’s not afraid to talk to people you know! i hope you apply :)

If you have good customer service skills, (its a huge part of our jobs) and are willing to learn, and not give up when it seems overwhelming for the first couple months, you'll love it! My coworkers are some of my closest friends, and I don't regret my decision at all!

I would say go for it. Don’t let them take advantage of you though

It's definitely fun (obviously depends a little on the location) but you'll learn a lot if coffee things not all of them are strictly coffee world education cause starbucks makes up their own terms and drinks. If you're in it for the money and benefits then sure go for it. But if you are wanting to learn more about the coffee world go work at your local Cafe they'll have nicer customers be more accurate with coffee education but the pay can be a mixed bag.

They will teach you all you need to know! Just be careful not to burn your tongue on the first sip, I always do at coffee tastings!
