OP says they were only there for a few weeks, so def too soon for a transfer

edit: and feels a little quick without having had a real conversation w their mgr ab their concerns. they won’t just transfer you for no reason sometimes

What’s your store number hunny?

In the land of starbucks, her intention does not matter but rather how you take it. If you feel harassed, then it is harassment. It doesn’t matter if she “meant” to harass you.

It may seem overwhelming but there is a no retaliation and protection for whistleblowers. There are reports you can fill out through Starbucks resources where you can stay anonymous. Reach out to the DM if you’d like!

If anything, because a fresh face matters more. First impressions are everything, and if she is treating a newbie like this I can’t imagine how the rest of the team feels.

All you have to do is find the number for your DM, send them a text or leave a voicemail asking if you can connect with them about some questions regarding startbucks management standards, and express your concerns.

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this 😞

Horrible, immature manager. Some suggest talking with her, but I find that just sets up a power struggle. I think you have to find a way to get off her radar and manage your interactions with her so her power issues aren't activated. Never, never talk about her to your peers, not even an eye roll. Act like you don't know there's a problem (that's a secret weapon). And wait for her to be fired, although Sbux tends to let these idiots hang around. It sucks, but it's not that unusual in the workplace. You can do it.

tbh, this post sounds just as immature lol, especially if you haven’t actually told your concerns to your mgr and tried to have a real conversation ab them. your mgr is wrong ab their fundamentals, you can prove it using your tools. you should never brew on top of old coffee or mix existing prepped ingredients as it messes w the expiration date and could lead to week old mocha mixed with and being served as if it was made that morning. it should all be dumped at the end of the day and prepped again in the morning. I don’t blame her for being upset, customers suck and being a mgr is stressful, but she should not have let you seen her emotions like that

I don’t believe this is okay at all. Managers are paid more for a reason. Yelling at people or criticizing people is not the correct way to correct incorrect actions.
Being upset is fine but visibly showing that to a barista or one of your shift managers is not okay. Be a manager and actually manage people. Which includes taking the time to actually train them correctly.
If you find yourself in a position where you can not then maybe you should not be in a management position 🤔

I would express my concerns with her, though this incident just happened yesterday and i was just looking for some advice. Also my brother worked with her in the past and said shes unreasonable and wears her feelings on her shirt sleeve so if i say something to her about how i feel she’ll probably just take it out on me, and turn it into why im wrong or its something i need to fix
SunBusiness8291 2 points 1y ago
You're absolutely correct. She's not open to this conversation. I'm afraid you'll have to work around this asshat.

definitely ask her to talk asap. it’s not right, she’s not telling you to do the right things and it’s going to hurt you in the future

i don’t think you read the post, was the part about brewing coffee on top of old coffee/pouring mocha into old mocha about the manager or op? because op is new and the manager told them to do the wrong thing 4 different times. obviously they’re going to listen to the manager and do what they say. the manager should not be fucking mad if they’re asking op to do the wrong shit and op is doing it.
op, i do believe your manager is creating a hostile work environment along with training you completely wrong on some things and failing to explain certain things to you, just getting mad and yelling. you deserve a better work environment. I know you’re too new to transfer but talk to your manager about your concerns if you can, if not, you’d have to wait until you’re able to transfer.
