How long does it take for you to close? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sadgirlzzzz
I know we get scheduled time to close the store up. My store was the SSV and a barista for 45 minutes. Now it’s SSV and 2 baristas for 30 minutes.

Obviously sometimes it takes a bit less or more time, depending on the night.

I’m just curious how long it actually takes you guys to close on average? Not how much time you’re given, but how much time you and whoever you’re working with actually take?

Edit: we close at 6 and I start pre closing at around 3:30/4

9:30-9:45 we're getting pretty good at getting out on time. I'm proud of us. I use the Always Be Closing method.

I’m a fan of the Always Be Closing method. I try to instill this in all our newer partners, because honestly if we want to be out on time I have to start breaking things down when I come in at 1. I have some really solid closers and we could definitely get out early (close at 8, 30 minutes to close) but for the sake of benefits for some parters we try to get as close to our end time as possible.

What’s the Always Be Closing method? Never heard of it

Start closing duties in any downtime during the shift, lol. For me when I’m on bar I’ll start wiping the syrups and everything down around 5:30 or 6, clean cold bar around then as well, we shut down the second mastrena except for blonde early on, just keep cleaning whenever you get a minute.

It's actually from sales training. It originally means always push to close a sale. Like when you're selling a car or a piece of software, etc. I just take the same acronym ABC to apply to closing a store because closers always should be closing to make it easier to get out on time.

Ssv I come in at 5. We start closing tasks right away. On a good night we are done by 10h20, latest 10h45.

30 mins (sometimes early). With one ssv and 2 baristas.

We have half an hour to close.

30 or so min. The key is to get big stuff out of the way trash, lobby, bathroom, dishes etc. Also we close our bathrooms after cleaning(45 min before closing or so) despite it not being permitted.

When I was a green bean we'd close at 9 and get out at 10 (bc I was a minor who was forced to leave then)

When I was trainer we'd close at 8 and get out at 8:45-8:30 if I was hopping on dishes while doing DTO / window

As a shift, we close at 8 and I get out at 9

im not a ssv but we typically start pre-close stuff at around 6 or 7 depending on how many people are scheduled (my location closes at 8 pm) and then after 8 pm we normally finish in about an hour or so. every time ive closed ive always been out no later than 9:15. we have several ssvs who are SUPER serious about finishing right at 9:00, lol, but this has never caused any problems & the most we've left for openers was like. a single load of dishes or un-stocked cups LOL
