Some people are saying to freeze then heat (or the reverse) together, but that is incorrect. Fill the inner one with ice water and put the outer one in hot water. The out side one needs to get hot when the inside one gets cold so they expand and contract separately. If you freeze both then heat (or heat both then freeze both), they will both expand and contract the same amount at the same time

Edit: make sure the ice water has as much ice as you can physically put in it. The more ice will keep the temperature of the inner one cool for longer, and the water will increase the rate of heat transfer
slamy420 24 points 1y ago
Has that process actually worked for you? Ive tried that on multiple occasions with absolutely no results
ToritoBurito 16 points 1y ago
I’ve had it work before!
Ashamed_Equal 9 points 1y ago
Yes it has!
toast-the-oven 6 points 1y ago
works for me every time!
slamy420 1 points 1y ago
Damn! I must have bad luck, maybe the paint is fusing to the plastics
kittykat87654321 2 points 1y ago
i’ve done this before and it worked like a charm
Haemmur 1 points 1y ago
Lube with liquid soap before putting in hot water?
coooffieee [OP] 95 points 1y ago
edit: i slammed them really hard against a counter because i was frustrated and they came apart
rainy-gray 11 points 1y ago
Im scared it will crack one
Erbearlee 13 points 1y ago
Totally can. Also shockingly enough throwing them against the wall will also crack them, not that I’m speaking from personal experience or anything 😂
No_Introduction8689 3 points 1y ago
we had three crack bc of this 🥲 we since have ordered 7 extras 😂
Nearby-Philosophy-25 63 points 1y ago
Bro you’re not the only one on this subreddit today wtf is going on
coooffieee [OP] 58 points 1y ago
its a sunday, sundays hate us
It_is_Katy 7 points 1y ago
Literally this happened in my store Saturday night, me and this trainee spent ten minutes trying to get it apart. Then one of the baristas was standing on a bench seat pulling it up while one of our regulars was sitting there pulling down. That finally broke part of it and we worked it out from there.
KindSimple741 2 points 1y ago
Lol Sundays are the worst. Our blender was stuck to the base so we were down to one blender.
Human_Ad1008 24 points 1y ago
Submerse both in hot water with ice water in the inside shaker. Works like a charm.
Taeharu 32 points 1y ago
Did you ask it nicely to come apart and use the LATTE model when doing so?
rainy-gray 3 points 1y ago
😂😭
dbldrm 1 points 1y ago
Lmfaoooo 💀
livmacc145 18 points 1y ago
Break one
coooffieee [OP] 14 points 1y ago
sacrifices were made..
Necessary_Low939 16 points 1y ago
I see there are solutions to the problem alrdy. Anyway after coming out of the sanitizer, do not stack them together like this anymore.
coooffieee [OP] 8 points 1y ago
oh absolutely, i never do. my partner did without thinking about it and came back to me for help 😭
Necessary_Low939 3 points 1y ago
Lol same.
betsylang 8 points 1y ago
This is why i don't work Sundays.
slamy420 8 points 1y ago
Honestly Ive had this happen a few times with newbs sticking them together when hot- I cannot say Ive ever found a way to unstick them foolproof. Sometimes getting them hot helps, but sometimes youre looking at worst case scenario.

Had one week my whole store tried different techniques separating a couple (very sword in the stone) and genuinely no progress. I ended up taking them home and taking the tools to them. Outer cup had to be completely shredded to remove the inner.

If nothing works? Take them home at go crazy on them. You get free cocktail shakers
imvni5 8 points 1y ago
I’ve had luck putting them in the Hobart
LavanderSkies0930 7 points 1y ago
Throw it out and order a new one. That’s how you do it
0x52and1x52 7 points 1y ago
I would consult Hobart
Accomplished_Kiwi211 3 points 1y ago
The most effective method for me was putting ice water in the inside cup, then putting the whole thing in a larger pitcher and filling that with hot water (so the inside is cold and the outside is hot). Popped right out!
devinboyd98 3 points 1y ago
Ice in the top and dip in warm/hot water.
amaraynicole 3 points 1y ago
I usually just throw them in the Hobart and then immediately pull them apart when it stops.
eagle6705 3 points 1y ago
bottom hot, top ice.....then get something you can grip after letting it sit for at least a min

Twist the top as you pull on the bottom opposite spin.

Alawys worked for my scrawny ass when I worked at starbucks
SpookyDaBaby 3 points 1y ago
I do taps on the counter like if you're opening a stubborn jar of pasta sauce. Then try. And repeat.
Lost_Treat_6296 3 points 1y ago
I've seen something on this sub that said to heat them both then put them in an ice bath
zydr8te 3 points 1y ago
Fill empty tea pitcher with hot water. Fill inside for shaker combo with ice. Put it in the hot water. Outside expands, inside shrinks causes just enough separation
polarizedspaghetti 2 points 1y ago
Pray
3picboss3 2 points 1y ago
Face down in the sanitizer
RIPmeupthearse 2 points 1y ago
ask your manager to order new ones... they're never coming apart
rhymasta 2 points 1y ago
apply simple human power
atticpanic 2 points 1y ago
hot water usually does the trick ive heard.
kxnkycxrly 2 points 1y ago
bang them really hard on the counter or submerge in hot water.
capybaraRage 1 points 1y ago
Set them a blaze 🔥

You'll never get them apart 😂
Asmawalizada 1 points 1y ago
Take it under the hot water , easy to separate them ;) thank me later;$
Dzfranken 1 points 1y ago
Put in the sanitizer (Hobart) and try while they are hot
Sectoad 1 points 1y ago
Put the bottom into a pitcher with HOT water
dbldrm 1 points 1y ago
Get them as hot as u can in the dishwasher. Also dont feel bad if u get cant them apart. At my store we have a stack of two permanently fused lol. This happens when they r stacked when still wet/warm.
Fozzybean 1 points 1y ago
Order new ones, not worth the effort.
ammouse4 1 points 1y ago
I always just run them through the Hobart. As soon as it finishes pull them apart.
Careful not to burn yourself!!
Intelligent-Ad1273 1 points 1y ago
They’re lost to the Refresher Gods now. This happened at my licensed store. We had a shrine in the back for it
Maseratihottiiee 1 points 1y ago
One time I put hot water in one and closed it and it didn’t open back up, we broke it trying to open it again😂😭😭
TheBDudgeon 1 points 1y ago
I use my steam wand to try to force an air gap while pulling apart. Don’t burn yourself though, and don’t nest those going forward! 😬😬
thechamelioncircuit 1 points 1y ago
It’s not happening bud 😂
ilwofairelgean 1 points 1y ago
Spit on it
Buttafly_360 1 points 1y ago
Whoever did that green asf 😭💀
Dark_kitty22 1 points 1y ago
I put them in the freezer for a few minutes
pinkgipsy 1 points 1y ago
Honestly, just pray lol
rosebudftw 1 points 1y ago
screw a hole in the bottom one it releases the top and saves at least one.
king_gouda 1 points 1y ago
Gonna sound insane, but put them in the oven for a few seconds (don’t turn it on). The heat will cause the outer shaker to expand and and you’ll be able to remove them from eachother.
sci-fi-lullaby 1 points 1y ago
Get a cube, fill with super hot water, put ice on the top cup submerge the bottom one in the cube for 5-10 secs then pull apart
Tajthegodking 1 points 1y ago
Run it under some hot water
clumsysilencee 0 points 1y ago
Submerge in hot water- raises the pressure in the “chamber” and pushes them apart
alh1st 0 points 1y ago
Freeze them, then heat
MiaLedger 0 points 1y ago
Soak them in water with a high concentration of soap
