Worth it? Depends. Stressful? Yes. SMs usually do prioritize getting SSVs hours vs baristas, so it’s definitely better especially with all the labor cuts. Do I wish I was a barista? Some days. But some days I love this position!

It's a leadership role. Stress management, problem solving, people skills, and time management are all very important to have. I would say that you should first assess if you have these skills then work on strengthening the ones you aren't good at yet. If this is something you think you can do, then I look forward to hearing about you becoming a shift.
I've been a shift for 6 months now and i love it. I, however, have had management roles in other jobs as well so I'm well aware of what comes with this role. I love grow the skills of others. I am wholly dedicated to achieving goals with others and improving our store. And I'm only going to mention this next thing to reenforced my next point: I don't need the money. I am financially sound. I took on the role to improve my surroundings.
If money is your only driver for this role, it will definitely be a hard job. Most of the time, the amount of crap you have to deal with will not be worth the money; in any job, for that matter.
