Declare Tips…. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by symebe
Literally after working at my store for 8 1/2 months I just found out we are supposed to declare tips… When I was trained I wasn’t told this. All the times I’ve picked up tips no one told me. It took literally 8 months for someone to say, hey make sure you guys are declaring them. Anyone know if I can get into trouble for this, if so how bad is it. Also any advice on how to actually fix this problem.

You’ll be fine. And if for some crazy reason you do get in trouble, throw the blame at your SM for not communicating that with your team.

Lol don’t bother declaring them. I worked as a server for 7 years, and declared minimum I had to. What we make at Sbux in tips isn’t even worth it.

you’re *supposed* to do it, yes, and i’m not saying this because i condone it, *but*……… literally no one does it and the irs is not gonna come after you for not reporting them unless you’re also self-employed/have a small business of your own. just saying!

If you don't report them weekly, you can report undeclared tips on your taxes.

If you underestimate them on your taxes, well... guess I'll find out what happens.
