We can't get our tips unless we do xyz (usually reading the weekly update, but this week they want us to complete training by the end of tomorrow to get them). Also manager/shift is keeping the tips from us since they have the keys to get them.

That’s not right… call partner resources. As a shift myself I cannot imagine ever saying that to any of my partners… I am in disbelief. I am sorry this is happening in your store ☹️

This is what was said in the group me today
"Hey guys!
Tips are done! Instead of reading the weekly update to get your tips, you must complete your ethics training on MyLearning, initial in the front of the book, and then let your shift on duty know!"
My manager also mentioned needing the training to be done by the end of tomorrow in another message

I want to think that it’s not malicious and that it’s a way to incentivize everyone to get these things done (since it’s something that has to be done) but it’s just not the way to go about it.
Both things take a few minutes to do but I still do not think that it is appropriate. Sometimes I genuinely cannot make time off the floor for partners that have training to do unless I have an extra partner coming in specifically to cover that. So in this scenario, if I cannot get someone off the floor to complete this training within their scheduled shift, then that would mean they wouldn’t get their tips for that week? Yeah… no. That doesn’t sound right. 😕

It is illegal for them to lock the tips away from you for any reason. Either report them to your district manager asap or threaten to file a complaint with the Deperatment of Labour, as that's absolutely not allowed.

No bc even partners who separate from company on Friday can pick up their tips the following week. Fight it if you want. .. but make damn sure you are on the clock to read any updates or train. Even if it's your off day. Bc you are hourly.

Already do that especially when it comes to training stuff. If Im not scheduled dont expect me to come in on days off Im playing fortnite or relaxing some other way
