Not a barista but might be? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Chemical-Row725
My area is getting a new Starbucks location and is about to open applications. I've been kinda hesitant but might apply. Was wondering if yall think it's worth it? This would be my second job after working at Subway for 6 months(quit due to my boss cutting my hours and not giving me a reasonable explanation, and constantly had paycheck errors). Anyways let me know if you enjoy working at Starbucks or think it's worth it :)

If you quit from unexplained cut hours….dont expect any difference here.

I love my job. I love being a barista, i love my team, i love (most of) my customers. However if you look in the sub over the past week, thats all any of us can talk about is our hours being cut, nationwide.
I love this job and I dont want to leave so im looking for a second job to help for the next few weeks.

People say this will end soon, others have no idea.
Id keep that in mind if you want to apply.

Biggest problem is that she was cutting so many that i couldn't pay for gas to and from. Thank you for the input:)

Luckily, we do earn tips. I usually put all my tips towards gas.

I think its worth applying, just maybe pay attention to what currently hired baristas are mass complaining about and decide if its worth it for you or not.

Good luck! ^^

Haha we all just got huge hours cut nationwide, possibly globally? Liek people at my store are trying to get loans to pay rent until hours go back to normal or they have to change shifts so they can get another job.

Other than that just scroll through this sub and you will know if it’s for you or not

Thank you! And hopefully the hour cuts won't happen at my location because it's so new. But idk 🤷‍♀️

Basically Starbucks apparently had low sales as a total company so they have budget cuts and that is meaning less employees per shift. Which if you end up applying and working u will see is probably the worse idea someone could have if your trying to make sales. Cuz then everyone is stressed and doesn’t have time to talk to customers and it makes the customers feel like they are just a sale, that they are the 208th customer that day. Which is not ideal when you want customers to come to Starbucks and not get coffee from Dunkin or a gas station or try saving money by staying home

yeah, that's fair. im a bit nervous about applying to work because if i get the job i'd be working the grand opening and my location is on the side of a major highway so it would be very busy.
