promoted💔💔 TRENTA rant (self.starbucksbaristas)

(need to get this off my chest!)

just promoted myself to customer and i have never felt so much relief in my life!! don’t get me wrong i loved being a barista and everything having to do with it but i worked at a tarbucks (starbucks licensed in target) and the management was ass. i have never been treated so horribly in my life. i had just moved to nc around august in 2021 and i got the job there immediately and our team lead was the pizza hut manager… she knows absolutely NOTHING about starbucks and it sucked when i was alone on the floor with her, she takes orders and doesn’t know how to write on the cups.

anyways, all of my coworkers were very rude and always tried to make sure they were right all of the time.
for example, they had seen me put water in the strawberry acai and one coworker told me that i was doing it wrong when i put water in it since the recipe changed to 4x strawberry acai and it already comes w water when you make it.. i was like “no? i thought once you put water in the 4x that it would then be like the 2x and therefore that recipe you would still have to add water into it.” anyways i brushed it off and stopped adding water to the refresher and then for the next week everyone kept reminding me and kept bringing it up.

i seriously don’t know who trained them but i knew i was right. they never cleaned properly, they never added dates to anything and would just pour new product into old containers without washing them.

we would always be short staffed and since our team lead was basically managing pizza hut, she would never tell us when we would have launches or let us know about the weekly updates. i always felt like i wasn’t in the know which was a HUGE difference from my old team lead. i also think my team lead at target always ‘targeted’ me.

when i first got hired, no one told me the dress code or where anything was. i figured the dress code was black pants and a black shirt so that’s what i was wearing for the first 2 months that i worked there. one day i came in with black jeans and my manager threw a huge fit.. she had to send a coworker to tell me that i could never wear my black jeans again because it’s against the dress code and i kept breaking it but NO ONE EVER TOLD ME. also never in my 4 years of working at a licensed starbucks, have i been told that black jeans were against dress code. everything i fucking did was wrong and it made me feel like absolute shit!there was also another coworker who always wore ugg boots, had long acrylic nails, hair down no hat, never wore an apron and jewelry and my manager never said a SINGLE FUCKING WORD to her because she was her favorite.

i am sooo glad i left that hell hole of a place and i hope karma bites them in the ass <3 i’m onto better things and it honestly was a good four years and i’ll definitely miss it but i know my self worth!!

I always wished the team could have say in their store managers/leads! Every store works differently and should have a lead tailored to their needs/personalities. Especially since you work so closely with them. Proud of you and I hope life treats you well!!!
