Whenever it's slow, just do any regular cleaning ( I mean like sweeping, wiping counters, checking bathrooms), stocking and checking milk stock up front. If your slow in your area and you see that bar is busy, ask if you can help even if it's just getting VSC foam ready. Check your back stock too, like white mocha or chai and see if you can some prepped for the next day.
I like to try and prep the next persons shift as best as I can. I've worked in coffee for 6 years and have been at Starbucks for 8 months and have been a shift there for about a month now. So if you have any specific questions or concerns, I'm happy to help 😊

Take initiative and help each other learn. Read the weekly updates. Keep an eye out for suggestions to make things easier.
Find time to review standards and uphold them. Being a Shift is also becoming a role model for baristas, you want to be a good example and not a bad one. Do you keep milks on the counter when barring? Are you confident in all the drink recipes?
Use your resources, use the Clean Safe & Ready Cards if you have them. Most importantly, ask any questions you have. You'll know the answer if someone else has the same question, or you'll know where to look for it.
You can apply online to any stores looking for a Shift, but if you're on good terms with your store manager, it's kind to let them know.
