Did you guys hear about this? I heard about it recently and wanted to know how people feel about it. I haven’t worked at Starbucks without the masks, and have lost coworkers who didn’t want to work with masks anymore. There are some interesting theories about why Starbucks is lifting it.

I'm still going to wear mine because this face is not cute.

true, i have a horrible rbf and an unholy ugly ass face.

Starbucks is lifting it because the CDC is lifting it. Schools can be mask free now, businesses can’t enforce it. There’s no weird conspiracy with Starbs specifically it’s more just the gunna be the new normal overall.

At my store this basically means we will all find out what we actually look like! It's gonna be so weird.
Seriously, I see partners out at a table on break and have to double triple take to recognize them without a mask.
Customers will also have to refigure us out. lol

I know a couple weeks ago they started pushing for the triple ply masks and not the cloth one anymore. Do we know if we can go back to wearing the cloth ones again?

I believe there is an update on this as well in a separate communication.

I'd like to know this as well, because if they're not providing masks in store anymore I want to be able to wear my own! Although I'm double vaccinated and have a booster I still have immunocompromised family members. Preventing the spread as much as possible :(

Why would you want to wear your own, likely less protective, mask over the required medical grade or better if you have immunocompromised family..?
Upstairs_Raise74507 points1y ago
I haven't decided how I feel yet. I think it'll be weird for sure, either way.

I fully plan to still wear my cloth ones for at least a month or so after the lift because usually these happen and there'll be an outbreak or something (I work in a major US city so that's a factor too)

I used to work for the BUX years ago (like 6-7) and can say I loved it back then and even love it now. Only downside is I’ve gotta watch the Rbf now that I’m a shift and plan on reminding everyone that facial expressions matter. (Had one chick say ‘this fucking bitch’ next to the person with the headset….so….needless to say I can imagine the eye rolls or scrunched faces lol)
Alarming_Base31481 points1y ago
I'm confused, you wore masks 6 years ago?
Also.. I muttered "the fuuuck" to myself while on bar the other day when someone on speaker said "Trenti".. then realized my mic was open. I sure hope my mask muffled that!! I was mortified..
Affectionate_Fart1 points1y ago
No, we didn’t. But I’m saying, as we transition to not wearing masks, I will still love working with SBUX. I had my first shift without and didn’t have a single negative interaction.
Vegetable-Rain76525 points1y ago
I’m still wearing mine just because I don’t want to put in the effort of taking all my piercings out every day. 😂
IzzyIllustrations3 points1y ago
Honestly, if my coworkers are all comfortable with not wearing a mask, I won't. Every customer coming to the store at this point isn't wearing a mask, even if they are sick, so as long as I'm not coughing or sneezing it really doesn't matter one way or the other.
