Question about shifts and working hours (panic)(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Redpirat3
Hello, I will soon be a new barista, and I have so many questions that are not answered by the partner guide... So, I'm planned for working 25h a week. Now, how are these hours distributed during the week ? Is it obviously 5h a day from mon to fri ? Or can I ask to work during 3 days for 8hish straight ?
What's the norm ? Do I have any space to negociate it ?
Thanks !!

It can be anytime within the availability you gave when you were hired. Don’t anticipate getting exactly 25 hours every week, or getting a similar schedule every week. You can probably expect to work 3-5 days a week but it can be any days, not necessarily in a row, and shifts probably anywhere from 4-8 hours.
You can let your manager know you prefer a certain schedule but they won’t be able to promise anything, since it just depends on everyone else’s availability and the store’s needs.

Yep. And idk if it's for every store, for mine though the schedule is written Monday to Sunday. Instead of Sunday to Saturday like a lot of places do.

It will honestly be pretty random - as in it it won’t be set schedule or the same schedule every week. It will be scheduled in whatever the availability you gave was. But one week it could be 5 days with 5 hour shifts, then next it could be 3 days with 8 hour shifts, or it could be 4 days with 6 hour shifts, etc. Also it might not be exactly 25 hours every week, one week it might be 22 hours, or 27 hours, 24 hours, etc. Unless you specifically stated you don’t want to work anything over 25. But it won’t be a set schedule at all and shifts are scheduled based on the needs of business, peak times, etc.

well it kind of can be distributed on whatever is needed. So on Monday you can have a 4 hour shift and on wednesday you could have an 8 hour shift
