Not actually full time (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I’m really upset. I’m moving to another state soon and told my manager months ago that I needed to be full time. Well I’ve been somewhere between 25-35 hours weekly despite my best efforts, meaning I have varying paycheck amounts. I applied for an apartment where I’m moving and did not get accepted because of income ratio (due to it being inconsistent). I’m so upset with starbucks. I was told I would get 40 hours (or at least 35 hours) every week, and now I can’t find a place to live. I feel cheated and honestly so upset with this company.

I've honestly never heard of anyone but the manager and maybe assistant manager being officially full time at Starbucks

Yeah I’ve learned that. It’s really upsetting, because my manager told me she would get me really close to 40. I’m lucky if I get 30 right now

Oh yeah hours have been pretty volatile these past couple years

All SSVs that want 35+ and most baristas had full time hours at my store, until they pulled the recent labor cut. I've never been at a store that artificially limited hours down to less than 30.

Yup. I also was lied to. Hired on as a shift and told I could get 40 (or more!) hours. They tout the pay rate but it doesn't mean jack shit if you can't get hours.

I’ve left past jobs for not giving me full time. This is sadly very typical for fast food and retail jobs. I’m lucky to get the hours I do have because my hours are very limited. I’m sticking around because I’m in school and I need something really flexible to get me through school. I would not recommend Starbucks to anyone who needs a consistent schedule. I have a love hate relationship with Starbucks.

My partner is SSV & they hit 40 hrs / OT almost monthly, they do this by being available to come in early and picking up shift regularly.
I know that isn’t ideal, but it is an idea. You could try that or maybe asking to see if another store needs any coverage..

Good luck with the move!! I hope everything works out!

Oh no I do this too. I have completely open availability and I pick up whatever shifts I’m able to. This week I’ll have 35 hours, but only because up picked up an evening shift and someone else’s morning shift. I’m usually an opener.
