Hi y’all, I am using a throwaway, and I could really use some advice. I’ve been at Starbucks since the first week of January and I’ve been given two skill checks by my SM so far. I haven’t passed them, why? I have been on bar maybe three times. I am always put on drive thru or front and warming for my entire shift. The times I’ve been on bar I’m taken off in under an hour, one time I got a literal five minutes before my shift told me to go to warming because I was in the way, apparently. Pretty much everyone who’s more experienced treats me like this. A few days ago when I was given my second skill check, my SM took me to the back and told me that I have two weeks until my third skill check. If I don’t pass this one, I’ll be separated from the company. My fellow partners that I’ve talked to haven’t received skill checks, and don’t think what’s happening is right. I told my SM that I don’t get any bar time, and they said that they’ll try to get me some. This happened at my first skill check, and I did not receive this promised bar time. They also say that while I’m on drive thru I can be “looking at the recipes of what the customer orders” however I find this to be impossible since we’re almost always busy and there’s hardly any time to even breathe? I don’t want to be separated from this company because despite its flaws and the difficulty, I enjoy it. Does anyone have any advice for this situation?
